PROJECT REQUIREMENTS

  1. Research the influence this figure had upon the creation of our government and nation. Be sure to find interesting facts, events, and actions from that figure’s life. You may use the textbook, other books from the library, and the Internet as sources of information.
  1. Constructa baseball card. You can go to my website to download templates to use or you can make one using your own materials and creativity. The card should be constructed on an 8 ½ by 11 sheet of paper. It cannot exceed this size nor can it be the size of a real baseball card. You will never get all the information on a card that size.
  1. Your card must include ALLof the following information:
  2. The front should have the figure’s picture, name, and type of reformer (education, abolitionist, caregiver, women’s suffrage, etc.). Keep in mind, your reformers may have fought for more than one issue.
  3. List 5 key statistics or facts about his life on the back of the card.
  4. List 5 key statistics or facts about his relevance/importance to American history on the back of the card.
  5. Include the figure’s “Batting Average” on the back with explanation of why you chose that batting average – this is your judgment about their impact on American history. Here is a quick explanation of the batting average system:
  6. .350 mans you are the one of the games greatest ever and no one can surpass you! A sure fire Hall of Famer (HoF)!
  7. .325 means you are on the top of your game! You are most likely going to be inducted into the HoF!
  8. .300 is still great, but you get a hit pretty much every other time. You may even be considered for the HoF!
  9. .250 means you are the average player. You’re not the worst player on the field, but you’re certainly not the best!
  10. .100 isn’t so great. You probably won’t be considered for the Hall of Fame and be forgotten in a few years!
  11. Feel free to use any gradations in between the ones listed above. If you need more guidance talk to Mr. Dunham or another baseball fan!
  12. Please include a quote by the reformer that captures the essence of their fight for their specific reform. Also, you must include a few sentences explaining the quote.
