Monday---Unit 11 Lesson 4 Skill: sh, red word put

Students will review the h-brothers ch, wh, and th by discussing the pictures of each brother and attributes from each picture that provide the sound that each h-brother makes. Students will also skywrite each h-brother spelling and provide sound.

Class will further review ch and th by completing a spell tabs and sentence dictation activity on notebook paper. Directions for these activities are in teacher guide pg. 11-3. Students will head a piece of notebook paper with Spell Tabs at the top and name and date underneath. Teacher will dictate the following words and students will finger blend and write the words. Afterward class will check their work and make any corrections needed. The words are: 1. chin 2. rich 3. chill 4.math 5. think 6. with 7. thank Afterward, teacher will dictate the following sentence and class will repeat the sentence, count the number of words in the sentence, and finger blend or arm tap each word to write the following sentence: Bill hit his chin on the dock. Class will check their work on the sentence together and students will make corrections as needed.

Class will also additionally review th by rereading and discussing the story, “Math” that the teacher will place under the document camera. Then students will complete a short comprehension quiz over the story. The story will be left under the document camera for students to look up answers if needed during the quiz. Teacher will take the quizzes up and students will discuss what answers that they should have marked on the quiz.

Teacher will display sh h-brother picture and tell students that this is the last h-brother. His name is sh. He is the oldest brother. He tells his 3 younger brothers to /sh/. Teacher will skywrite sh and provide sound. Students will also practice skywriting sh and providing sound. Teacher will write up the word hush and note for students that sh is at the end of the word. Students will finger blend and sweep sounds to read the word. Teacher will place worksheet 11-31 under the document camera. Students will practice reading sh words and sentences. This worksheet will be sent home for reading homework.

Teacher will also place the story, “A Pink Dish” under the document camera. Students will practice reading and discussing the story. This story will be sent home for homework.

Tuesday---Unit 11 Lesson 4 Skill: sh and red word put

Students will also further review sh words and sentences by rereading worksheet 11-31 that the teacher will place under the document camera.

Teacher will place the story, “A Pink Dish” under the document camera. Students will practice reading and discussing the story. Students will complete a short comprehension quiz over the story. Teacher will take the quizzes up and students will discuss what answers that they should have marked on the quizzes.

Teacher will display the red word put and tell students that this is a red word that is not spelled like it sounds. The word put means to place something or someone.

Example: I put the dish in the sink. I will put the baby in the crib.

Students will practice arm tapping and sweeping the word put 5 times.

Class will read the group of red words from blue pocket chart that they have learned thus far in the units.

Teacher will place worksheet 11-33 under the document camera. This worksheet contains sentences with red words missing. Students will help fill in the missing words for the following sentences. 1. Did you put the hat in Chad’s backpack? 2. Shall I put the dish in the sink?

Teacher will place the story, “The Path” which reviews all h-brothers under the document camera. Students will practice reading and discussing the story. This story will be sent home for reading homework.

Wednesday----Unit 11 h-brothers Review

Students will review the h-brothers ch, wh, and th by discussing the pictures of each brother and attributes from each picture that provide the sound that each h-brother makes. Students will also skywrite each h-brother spelling and provide sound.

Teacher will place worksheet 11-31 under the document camera and students will further review sh by reading words and sentences containing sh on the sheet.

Teacher will place the story, “The Path” under the document camera and students will further review all h-brothers by rereading and discussing the story. Teacher will leave the story up while the students complete a short comprehension quiz over the story. Teacher will take the quizzes up and students will discuss what answers that they should have marked on the quiz.

Class will practice arm tapping the red words are and put from the blue pocket chart and read the other red words that they have learned thus far in the units.

Teacher will place worksheet 11-37, 38 under the document camera and students will practice reading h-brother words and red words put and are in the words and sentences. This worksheet will be sent home for reading homework.

Thursday---Unit 11 h-brothers Review

Students will review the h-brothers ch, wh, and th by discussing the pictures of each brother and attributes from each picture that provide the sound that each h-brother makes. Students will also skywrite each h-brother spelling and provide sound.

Oral Reading Grade: Teacher will place worksheet 11-31 under the document camera and students will further review sh by reading words and sentences containing sh on the sheet.

Oral Reading Grade: Teacher will place worksheet 11-37, 38 under the document camera and students will practice reading h-brothers words and red words put and are in the words and sentences.

Teacher will pass out Units 10-11 Study Guide and will give out the questions while students fill in the answers. Teacher will fill in the study guide also after each group of questions and students will discuss each question and make corrections on their study guide as needed to take home and study for an assessment tomorrow.

If there is extra time afterward, students will take a practice spelling assessment over the following words: 1. this 2. that 3. think 4. math 5. with 6. ship 7. shop 8. cash 9. dish 10. put. Teacher will grade these and students will write each word missed 10 times each.

Friday---Unit 11 Assessment

Class will complete an assessment over Project Read Units 10-11 together. Teacher will provide directions from the direction sheet and students will fill in answers on their assessment sheet.

Students will also take a spelling assessment over the following words: 1. this 2. that 3. think 4. math 5. with 6. ship 7. shop 8. cash 9. dish 10. put.
