POSITION TITLE: / Project Manager
REPORTS TO (Title): / Programme Office Manager
REPORTS ON A DAILY BASIS TO: / Programme Office Manager
PRINCIPAL OBJECTIVES
To manage projects as directed by the Program Office Manager using professional project methodologies to their successful completion.

KEY PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES:
Task / To provide management of projects allocated by the Program Office Manager, though the project life cycle using project management processes to the successful completion of the project including achievement of business objectives and benefits.

  • Suggests suitable governance structures for projects.
  • Delivering project plans, budgets, identifying resource requirements and taking changes to the Project Board and/or Steering Committee for approval.
  • Day-to-day management of the project against the approved project plan, budget and scope to deliver the specified objectives and benefits.
  • Ensuring the project is resourced properly and efficiently.
  • Providing regular progress reports to the Project Board/Steering Committee/ stakeholders.
  • Ensuring effective delivery of the business process changes, including documentation and training.
  • Undertaking risk assessments, and developing and implementing risk mitigation strategies as agreed by the Project Board/Steering Committee.
  • Providing quality assurance at regular intervals, and acting on the quality assurance findings, reporting to the Executive/Sponsor where appropriate.
  • Managing all third parties contracted during the project life cycle.

Task / Project management of the IT component of projects that are managed from within the business department, as allocated by the Program Office Manager.

  • Management responsibilities will be clearly allocated between the Project Mangers and communicated to all members of the project team and Project Board/Steering Group.
  • The IT components will be managed consistent with the expected outcomes above.

  • Takes part in developing the policies, guidelines and templates, being developed by the Project Office.

  • Participates in training, conferences, and workshops that develop their project management skills.
  • Takes part in mentoring or supervision to develop their project management skills.

Task / The Project Manager will undertake other duties as reasonably directed by the Chief Information Officer and the Information Services Group Management Team.

HEALTH & SAFETY:
Managers are to take all practicable steps to ensure the health and safety of employees at work and maintain knowledge of CDHB health and safety systems and policies.
This will be achieved by ensuring:
Health and safety programmes are sustained by allocating sufficient resources for health and safety to function effectively. This includes regular liaison with the Health and Safety Advisor.
Employee participation is encouraged and supported in processes for improving health and safety in the workplace and by employee attendance at health and safety meetings.
A system is in place for identifying and regularly assessing hazards in the workplace and controlling significant hazards.
All employees are provided with information about the hazards and controls that they will encounter at work.
Regular workplace audits are carried out.
All employees receive and have signed off an induction to their workplace and to health and safety policies and procedures.
All employees receive relevant information and training on health and safety including emergency procedures relevant to their area of work and the appropriate use of personal protective equipment they may need to use.
All accidents and injuries are accurately reported, investigated and documentation is forwarded on to the Health and Safety Advisor within agreed timeframes.
Support and participation occurs in employee’s rehabilitation for an early and durable return to work following injury or illness.
QUALITY:
Every staff member within CDHB is responsible for ensuring a quality service is provided in there area of expertise. All staff are to be involved in quality activities and should identify areas of improvement. All staff are to be familiar with and apply the appropriate organisational and divisional policies and procedures.

Experienced with project management life cycle and tools

Has worked as a Project Manager ona range of projects
Experience in the Health Industry
Qualifications
Be prepared to work towards a professional Project Management certification such as PMP, PRiNCE2
Certification as a Project Management Professional.
