Who Should Attend?

This workshop is required for all firms pre-qualifying with CDB. The CDB expects contractor representatives to participate in this training. This 3-hour workshop is also valuable for office personnel who deal with CDB forms and procedures or any firm that desires to learn more about CDB and our project procedures. These workshops are offered at NO CHARGE to attendees.

Workshop Description:

Learn about CDB procedures, project documentation and reporting.

The Capital Development Board (CDB) is presenting workshops for contractors on CDB projects. The training format enables the participants to gain hands-on knowledge of CDB documents and procedures. The agenda includes:

FROM SOUTH OF SPRINGFIELD VIA INTERSTATE 55

·  Traveling Northbound on Interstate 55, exit on “Business 55 North” – Exit 97 -- which becomes Sixth Street.

·  Go to South Grand Avenue - turn left on South Grand (heading West).

·  Go to Spring Street – turn right on Spring (heading North).

·  Go to Edwards Street – turn left on Edwards (heading West).

·  Go one block to College Street and turn right on College Street (heading North)

FROM NORTH OF SPRINGFIELD VIA INTERSTATE 55

·  Traveling Southbound on Interstate 55 South, exit on Clearlake Avenue -- Exit 98 -- into Springfield (heading west)

·  Clearlake will wind through the city and become Jefferson Street as you cross Ninth Street.

·  Continue west on Jefferson to Second Street; turn left onto Second (heading South).

·  Travel past the State Capitol on your right and go to Edwards Street. Turn right onto Edwards (heading West)

·  Go one block to College Street (second stop light) and turn right onto College (heading North).

FROM EAST OF SPRINGFIELD VIA INTERSTATE 72

·  Travel into Springfield on Interstate 72, which becomes Clearlake Avenue (heading west)

·  Clearlake will wind through the city and become Jefferson Street as you cross Ninth Street.

·  Continue west on Jefferson to Second Street; turn left onto Second (heading South).

·  Travel past the State Capitol on your right and go to Edwards Street. Turn right onto Edwards (heading West)

·  Go one block to College Street (second stop light) and turn right onto College (heading North).

FROM WEST OF SPRINGFIELD VIA INTERSTATE 72 (US ROUTE 36)

·  Travel eastbound to Exit 92; take the exit into Springfield on Sixth Street (heading North)

·  Go to South Grand Avenue - turn left on South Grand (heading West).

·  Go to Spring Street – turn right on Spring (heading North).

·  Go to Edwards Street – turn left on Edwards (heading West).

·  Go one block to College Street and turn right on College Street (heading North)

VISITOR PARKING

·  Limited parking for visitors near the Stratton Building can be found directly south of the Stratton Building on the right side of College. Check with the guards at the Security Station for parking availability.

·  More parking for visitors is available due west of the Stratton Complex. To reach this lot, travel west on Edwards -- past College Street -- and turn right at the entrance to the Visitors Parking Lot which is immediately west of Boone’s Saloon, which sits on the corner of Edwards and College Streets

STRATTON BUILDING

The Stratton Building is the 8-floor, concrete structure with dark green glass windows. The Capital is to the east. The Capital Development Board offices are located on the Third Floor of the Stratton Building. The receptionists’ desk is at the north end of the building.

VIA THE KENNEDY EXPRESSWAY (INTERSTATE 90/94)

·  Traveling into Chicago, exit at Ohio Street (heading East)

·  Take Ohio to LaSalle Street. Turn right on LaSalle (heading South)

·  Stay on LaSalle; cross the Chicago River; the second street past the river is Lake Street. The Thompson Center is on the left. The Bilandic Building is on the right at Randolph.

VIA THE EISENHOWER EXPRESSWAY (INTERSTATE 290)

·  Travel into Chicago past the point where the Eisenhower becomes the Congress Parkway (heading East)

·  Take Congress Parkway to State Street and turn left onto State (heading North)

·  Take State Street to Randolph Street and turn left on this one-way street (heading West)

VIA THE STEVENSON EXPRESSWAY (INTERSTATE 55)

·  Travel into Chicago and the Stevenson will end at Lake Shore Drive – U.S. Route 41 (heading Northeast)

·  Exit the Stevenson northbound onto Lake Shore Drive. (heading North)

·  Continue on Lake Shore Drive in the right-hand lane to the Randolph Street Exit Ramp. Take the exit.

·  Follow the Randolph Street Exit Ramp into the “Loop” (heading West)

·  The Thompson Center is on the right.

VIA THE RYAN EXPRESSWAY (INTERSTATE 90/94 AND INTERSTATE 57)

·  Travel into Chicago (heading North) and take Exit 51 “I” eastbound onto the Eisenhower Expressway, which becomes Congress Parkway (heading East)

·  Take Congress Parkway to State Street and turn left (heading North)

·  Take State Street to Randolph Street and turn left on this one-way street (heading West)

PARKING

There are several public parking ramps within walking distance of the Thompson Center and the Bilandic Building.

THOMPSON CENTER

The Thompson Center is the large steel frame and glass structure that resembles an inverted bowl. The building is located on the block bordered by LaSalle, Lake, Clark and Randolph streets.

BILANDIC BUILDING

The Bilandic Building is directly across the street from the Thompson Center at the northwest corner of LaSalle and Randolph streets.

CDB OFFICES

The Capital Development Board offices are located on the 14th Floor of the Thompson Center and can be reached only by the elevators that transit floors 9 through 16.
