REPORTS TO:Sustainable Communities Manager

HOURS:21 hours per week

SALARY:£19,500-£20,500 pro rata

Specific Duties

  • Effectively coordinate and deliver Master Composter training and support programmes, in line with the objectives and milestones agreed with partners.
  • To develop existing and new Master Composter projects and other activities related to composting, especially home composting.
  • To assist with the strategic development of Garden Organic’s Sustainable Communities programmes, ensuring that it works effectively towards changing peoples attitude and behaviour towards composting and growing fruit and vegetables.
  • To assist with the development of project specifications to meet the needs of partners and potential new partners
  • To work with existing projects within the programme to attract additional funding from existing and new partners from a variety of sectors
  • To maximise dissemination and PR associated with the projects in the area.
  • Giving advice on composting both externally and internally.
  • To research, compile and proof read literature related to Sustainable Communities programmes, including producing reports on the schemes for project partners, fact sheets, and articles to support knowledge development and increase visibility to a wider audience.
  • To coordinate and deliver other volunteer training and support where necessary.
  • To contribute to the development of Garden Organic’s work in relation to volunteers as required.
  • To represent the organisation at appropriate events.

It is the nature of work of Garden Organic that tasks and responsibilities are, in many circumstances, unpredictable and varied. All staff are expected to work in a flexible way when the occasion arises where tasks are not specifically covered in the Job Description and have to be undertaken. Garden Organic actively encourages employees to spend time volunteering with other departments within the Charity.

Some evening, weekend and bank holiday working may be required.
