Project Completion Ceremony for the Establishment of the CATC in Cambodia, and Medal Award to Working Group

Phnom Penh: The State Secretariat of Civil Aviation (SSCA) organized the “Project Completion Ceremony for the Establishment of the Civil Aviation Training Center(CATC) in Cambodia“, which is the grant aid from the Republic of Korea through the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), chaired by His Excellency General Dr. Mao Havannall, Secretary of State of the SSCA and Mr. Jeong Yun Gil, Country Director of KOICA Cambodia Office on Thursday, July 5, 2018.

The training program at theCATC is covered in a wide range of subjects. In 2017, the Center has organized 15 courses with 261 participants. In 2018, there will be a lot of new skills to expand Cambodia's rapidly expanding aviation skills. The CATChas recently launched 26 courses for 2018. Up to the first semester of 2018, the CATC has organized and completed 17 training courses with a total of 279 participants.

While presiding over at the ceremony, His Excellency General Dr. Mao Havannall expressed his admiration and gratitude to KOICA and Korean experts and Cambodian teachers who are working hard to organize training programs and prepare the course materials for these courses and fulfill the plan as planned. His Excellency General Dr. Mao Havannall added that​ CATC continues to provide training and aviation education and has reduced our costs for overseas training, and it is important to promote national capacity to respond to the rapidly expanding aviation sector, tourism, and economic expansion, development, infrastructure and interactive activities.His Excellency General Dr. Mao Havannallalso emphasized that after almost three decades of civil war, all infrastructures have been destroyed, Cambodia has now enjoyed political stability and full peace from 1998 onwards, because of the win-win policy of Samdach Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia. The Royal Government of Cambodia has also made significant progress in developing all fields

For his part, Mr. Jeong Yun Gil said that the Project for Establishment of the CATC in Cambodia is crucial in assisting Cambodia to acquire knowledge and technology necessary to improve its aviation industry, thereby enhancing related key industry sectors such as tourism and transportation, in alignment with the National Strategic Development Plan-2014-2018.

Finally, SSCA and the Korea Airport Corporation (KAC) who is delivering Project Management Consultancysigned a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on co-operation for the airports business development and aviation training.

Be reminded that the CATC was the first center in the Kingdom of Cambodia, which officially inaugurated in March 2017 under the grant aid from the Government of the Republic of Korea through KOICA. CATC has been operating since 2016 to promote professional skills for Cambodian civil aviation and to create an effective management system for human resources.
