Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Go to Grant Wood Website: www.aea10.k12.ia.us
  2. From homepage click on Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment
  3. Click on Quality Data Tools
  4. Click on Progress Monitoring and then, progress monitoring raw score{xls}
  5. Go to file and open, save as, then name your progress monitoring sheet
  6. Enter data in the yellow left hand upper box
  7. On line number 4 at N, O, and P enter 3 baseline data points. The median will be calculated for you. The median becomes the beginning of your trend line on your chart.
  8. Under Aimline Calculator enter Goal/Target number on line 25. Also enter the number of assessments on line number 26. You might be calling these probes, checks, etc. If you do 2 a week, for a 12 week period, the number of assessments would be 24.
  9. If you wish to add a standard{for most students} aimline as a comparison, enter the score or norm for the beginning or the end of the assessment period lines 30 and 31.
  10. Now put in the dates for the assessments. Use a period instead of a slash / i.e. 10.07.06.
  11. Enter dates and scores as you collect them beginning with field B11. This is where you will track the scores for intervention number 1.
  12. At assessment 7, you can use the trend line to look at how the student is progressing towards his/her goal.
  13. The number 0 is put in cell where you want to stop and examine the data for decision making.
  14. If you change the intervention ,move to intervention 2-- draw a line indicating another intervention and continue reading the scores.
  15. Click and drag on the 1st half of the assessment scores, then copy and paste those scores on line number 16. Secondly click and drag on the second half of the scores , then copy and paste to line 17. These numbers will be used to calculate the Rate of Acquisition. { Note on the chart –is referred to as Scores for R of A.} The Rate of Acquisition is automatically calculated and displayed for the selected set of data.
  16. In order to make your charts more readable you may want to “hide” cells. Hide cells by clicking and holding down the mouse directly on the letter of the cell you wish to hide and dragging across the cell titles to highlight the ones you wish to hide. {e.g. If you have 15 assessments you would click the Cell “Q” and while holding the mouse, drag over the cell to title “BI”
  17. With the cursor still on the cell title, right click and select “Hide”. This will hide the columns from view and from your charts. To “Unhide” cells you will notice a thick line between columns as well as see a jump in cell alphabetization. Highlight the column titles on either side of the thick line, and select “Unhide to bring the columns back to view.
  18. To view the charts, click on the tab marked “Tallies Chart” or “ Tallies Chart –no Standards
