MDF Program| 2018
PROGRAM OBJECTIVE
The Market Development Funds (MDF) Program is designed as a resource to enable and support growth of Sunstream product sales and brand recognition within the authorized dealer community. MDF funding is not intended to be used for general dealership advertising.
PROGRAM TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Eligible dealers are able to apply for Sunstream MDF funds based on the following three categories:
- Annual Sales Volume: Sunstream will contribute up to 50% of your expenses for pre-approved boat shows and advertisements, up to 1% of your annual 2017 purchases, to a maximum cap of $10,000. MDF funds allocated will be based on purchases made between January 1st, 2017and December 31st, 2017for existing dealers. New dealers will receive an initial 2018 MDF pool base on your opening seasonal order. Terms for this portion of the MDF program are outlined in the following section “Usage of Annual Sales Volume MDF Funds”.
- Annual Sales Growth: Sunstream will contribute up to 50% of your expenses for pre-approved marketing activities designed to generate Sunstream product sales, up to 2% of your incremental sales growth in 2017over 2016. MDF funds awarded will be based on incremental growth from purchases made between January 1st, 2016and January 1st, 2017, for existing dealers. In order to gain pre-approval for Annual Sales Growth MDF funds, marketing plans must be submitted to Sunstream and pre-approved. Any additional requirements for tear sheets, samples of mailers, photos, etc. will be specified at the time of approval.
Marketing Grant: An additional form of available market development co-funding may be available through a specialized marketing grant. Sunstream will contribute up to 50% of your expenses for pre-approved marketing activities designed to generate Sunstream product sales. In order to apply for this grant, marketing plans must be submitted to Sunstream and pre-approved. The basis for approval will be on the growth potential of the campaign and funds required for success. Any additional requirements for tear sheets, samples of mailers, photos, etc. will be specified at the time of approval. 25% of Sunstream’s annual marketing grant budget will be awarded by January 1, 201850 % will be awarded by April 1, 2018and 25% will be awarded by June 1, 2018. Marketing plans must be obtained prior to these dates to be considered for each round of grant funding.
To qualify for any MDF funding, you must adhere to the following basic program requirements, in addition to the guidelines for the specific qualified marketing programs outlined in the remainder of this document:
- MDF reimbursement is only available to dealers with current accounts. Applications for MDF reimbursement cannot be submitted until the account is made current. Any account that falls behind 90 days past due during the year is not eligible for MDF program
- MDF reimbursement is credited in US dollars at the exchange rate of the date of payment.
- A complete application must be submitted for fund approval. Incomplete applications are not considered to be “officially” submitted nor accepted and willbe returned. Returned applications can be resubmitted with all required documentation.
- All MDF claims for expenditures within the program year must bereceived by Sunstream within 60 days of the expenditure(eg. 60 days after a boat show end date or advertising run) and no later than December 31, 2018.
Reminder: make sure your year-end submissions are complete. Incomplete submittals will not be accepted and will be returned. They must be resubmitted by December 31, 2016to be qualified for that year’s funding.
- MDF funds are reimbursed via credit memo within 30 days of submission and acceptanceof completed MDF claim application.
- Unused MDF funds cannot be claimed the followingyear.
USAGE OF ANNUAL SALES VOLUME MDF FUNDS
ADVERTISING AND DIRECT MAIL
Sunstream encourages you to advertise within your territory. To ensure consistency in Sunstream branding and messaging,all print and online advertising, including direct mail,must be pre-approvedin the current MDF year (2018)by Sunstream to qualify for any reimbursement. Unapproved materials submitted for MDF funding will be denied reimbursement.
General program requirements:
- Submit your proposed ad or direct mail, along with an MDF pre-approval form, to Sunstream’s marketing department for review and pre-authorization for MDF for all print and online advertising and direct mail.Please allow 7 days for materials review.
- To receive full 50/50 credit, ads and direct mail must exclusively feature Sunstream products.
- Ads and direct mail that are not 100% devoted to Sunstream products will be pro-rated based on the portion of the ad or direct mail that is dedicated to Sunstream products.
If you have any questions regarding messaging, approved logos or imagery or qualification and reimbursement levels for ads/direct mail that are not entirely dedicated to Sunstream products, you are encouraged to submit the materials to Sunstream’s marketing department for evaluation.
Print Advertising
Only print ads in trade publications, local newspapersor other appropriately targeted publications qualify for MDFfunds.
General print advertising program requirements:
- To receive full 50/50 credit, ads must exclusively feature Sunstream products.
- Non-Sunstream exclusive ads will be reimbursed based upon the amount of space dedicated to Sunstream products.
- Ads must not contain products/brands that directly compete with Sunstream.
- Print ads must feature the official, current Sunstream logo and website URL. It is acceptable to display your business’s website if the website clearly displays your partnership with Sunstream and contains a page solely dedicated to Sunstream products.
- Claims must be submitted within 60 days of the end of the advertisement.
- MDF funds are reimbursed via credit memo within 30 days of submission and acceptance of completedMDF claim application.
Print advertising MDF claim application requirements:
Please submit a completed MDF claim form AND the following documentation. Incomplete applications will be returned and will need to be resubmitted.
- Magazine ad tearsheet (pull the ad from the magazine) or a copy of the tear sheet. Both must show the publication name and date.
- For newspaper or similar ads, submit the original or a copy of the newspaper page on which the ad appeared; page should show publication name and date.
- A copy of the advertising invoice and proof of payment (for example, a copy of the cancelled check or emailed payment confirmation from publication).
Other Advertising
Other advertising will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Please contact us for prior approval.
Direct Mail
Our MDF program allows you to offset a portion of your direct mail costs, including design, printing, postage and the purchasing of mailing lists. Sunstream does not offer in-house design services but we are happy to consult with you to select layouts or appropriate messaging during the pre-approval process.
General direct mail program requirements:
- To receive full 50/50 credit, direct mail must exclusively feature Sunstream products.
- All direct mail pieces must be pre-approved by Sunstream in order to be eligible for reimbursement.
- Costs associated with non-Sunstream exclusive mailer pieces will be reimbursed based upon the amount of space dedicated to Sunstream products.
- A qualified mail list must be used.
- Sunstream marketing must be added to the direct mail list to receive a copy of the piece through the mailing service (waived if mailing service is administered by Sunstream).
- MDF funds are reimbursed via credit memo within 30 days of submission and acceptance of completed MDF claim application.
Direct mail MDF claim application requirements:
Please submit a completed MDF claim form AND the following documentation. Incomplete applications will be returned and will need to be resubmitted.
- A copy of the direct mail piece.
- A copy of the paid invoices showing the final cost for EACH of the following:
- Postage
- Mailing Lists
- Design
- Printing
BOAT SHOW PARTICIPATION
Sunstream encourages you to feature Sunstream products at your local consumer boat shows. Our MDF program will allow you to offset a portion of the show registration fees for your booth. Boat shows must be pre-approved to qualify for reimbursement.
General boat show program requirements:
- A Sunstream lift must be set up and operational throughout the duration of the show.
- The lift must be clearly visible and not hidden by a boat, dock, ramp, etc.
- Sunstream / model designation decal should be clearly visible. If not, professional signage must be placed on the lift that shows at a minimum the Sunstream logo and lift model designation.
- The booth must contain the following minimum Sunstream-specific signage: one Sunstream banner, burgee or flag and one product-specific identification sign per 10 sq ft of space.
- The final credit amount issued will be based on the amount of space in the booth devoted to Sunstream products. For instance, a SunLift display will typically qualify for the equivalent cost of a 10 x 10 booth space.
- MDF funds are reimbursed via credit memo within 30 days of submission and acceptance of completed MDF claim application.
Boat show MDF claim application requirements:
- The application must be submitted within 60 days of show completion.
- A picture of the Sunstream products in the booth along with the required Sunstream signage must accompany the application.
- A copy of the final show invoice noting the size of the booth.
- Proof of payment (for example, a copy of the cancelled check or emailed payment confirmation from show management).
SUNSTREAM COLLATERAL
To order Sunstream marketing collateral for your local boat shows, please fill out the Marketing Materials Request Form. Also please keep in mind our new policies:
- We only ship marketing material with an already scheduled shipment, otherwise all incurred costs of shipping and handling will be the responsibility of the dealer.
- Each dealer is allotted 50 of each form of collateral per order, to a maximum of 200 pieces of collateral per year.
- Discontinued marketing materials are limited and will only be available until supplies last.
- Government Marketing Material is considered a special request.
- We are not currently fulfilling requests for banners, signs, shirts, hats or other trade show materials for dealers; although we will consider special requests on a case-by-case basis as noted on the Marketing Materials Request Form.
PROGRAM REVOCATION
Sunstream Corporation offers this MDF program to provide financial assistance to help our dealers with their marketing efforts and reserves the right to refuse payment for non-compliance with the terms and conditions outlined herein. Fraudulent submissions or abuse of the program will result in immediate revocation of rights for dealer to participate in Sunstream’s MDF program.
Sunstream also reserves the right to make changes to or cancel the program or any provisions herein with a 30-day written notice.
