PROGRAM TECHNICIAN JOB DESCRIPTION

I. JOB SUMMARY

The program technician's job is working directly with clients. This work includes attending to clients' well being and safety, implementing their programs, taking care of their personal hygiene and medication needs where relevant, recording data, and miscellaneous other tasks, both at Work-Abilities and in the community.

Program technicians are responsible to area managers and planning managers in the work group to which they are assigned. Work group assignments may on occasion be changed to meet overall agency needs.

II.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

A. Provide clients with active treatment,i.e., interact with them in a way that actively engages them and provides them with activities related to their individual goals.

B. Actively supervise clients at all times, whether at WorkAbilities or in the community.

C. Interact with clients in a manner which is consistently respectful and age-appropriate.

D. Be familiar with individual clients' programs, health and behavioral issues, and other pertinent information.

E. Use prescribed safe methods at the appropriate level to assist clients with mobility.

F. Meet clients' personal hygiene and medication needs as needed and directed.

G. Record client data as directed.

H. Maintain work area so that it's safe, clean, and well set up for client programming.

I. Provide input into all work team efforts, especially client programming and schedule.

J. Participate in meetings and training sessions as directed.

K. Carry out any additional responsibilities which may be assigned.

III. JOB QUALIFICATIONS

A. Must have minimum of one year of post secondary education or relevant experience.

B. Must have the physical ability to (1) stand and walk for up to seven hours a day; (2) perform two-person lifts of adult clients throughout the day, including squatting, pivoting, flexing and kneeling; (3) independently roll, position or complete ROM/Stretching exercises with clients (4) push clients in wheelchairs on both level and inclined surfaces. (5) engage in repetitive lifting or other physical movements in care of clients or in fulfilling production demands.

IV. JOB HOURS

Ordinary working hours for program technicians are Monday through Friday, 9:00am to 4:00pm.
