POSITION TITLE: Program Support Coordinator

TYPE: Full Time | Non-Exempt

REPORTS TO: Social Services Associate Director

SALARY: Commensurate with experience and VEAP pay structure

ORGANIZATIONAL MISSION: Neighbors serving neighbors in need.

POSITION OBJECTIVE: Provide program supportto VEAP services, manage volunteers, and provide information systems support. Work with Basic Needs and Social Services staff to coordinate and deliver services that reflect the mission, the philosophy of care, and the strategic priorities of the organization impacting those living in poverty.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Volunteer Management

  • Train, supervise, and coordinate volunteers who work in the lobby, service assistance, and nutrition education areas.
  • Establishand provideongoing support and training to volunteers.
  • Update and maintaindepartment procedure and training manuals and materials in accordance with organization policies.
  • Provide computer assistance and support as needed.
  • AssistHR and Administrative Directorin conducting volunteer placement interviews.

Program Support

  • Inform and enforce VEAP program and service procedures, policies, and eligibility guidelines.
  • Ensure consistent client information input.
  • Ensure confidentiality of client information.
  • Manage Hennepin County staff queue flow systems.
  • Troubleshoot issues that arise in the lobby.
  • Work with social services staff to update and maintain required paperwork and commonly used resources for clients seeking services.
  • Maintain a broad knowledge of community resources.
  • Provide information systems and client database support.
  • Accept and deliver incoming mail and monetary donations as needed.
  • Complete general office tasks as needed.

Program Coordination

  • Work withbasic needs and social service staff tocoordinate service delivery for programs (nutrition education courses, shuttle services, children and youth services, etc).
  • Coordinate onsite collaborative services as needed (Oasis for Youth, Energy Assistance, MNSURE, Shoe Bus, Tax clinics, etc.).
  • Collaborate with human service agencies, businesses, schools, churches to deliver services.

Continuing Education:

  • Attend workshops, conferences and classes to support skills needed to perform the job.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Required:

  • Bilingual in Spanish
  • Associates degree or 4 year degree in a human services related field.
  • Experience working with under-served or vulnerable populations, including persons from diverse. Racial, ethnic, and economic backgrounds, as well as with mental health and/or behavioral issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse and/or low income populations, including those experiencing homelessness, unstable housing and/or mental illness.
  • Commitment to working collaboratively with staff and partners.
  • Passion for working for a mission-based organization
  • Ability to work with sensitive and/or confidential matters
  • Desire to work as a member of a team and promoting that team’s guiding principles
  • Ability to plan, direct and review the work of others with confidence and clarity
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and client database software
  • Exceptional written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills; excellent listening skills
  • Motivated self-starter who thrives on working in a space of innovation
  • High attention to detail and flexible in nature
  • Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Excellent problem-solving, time management and organizational skills
  • Position requires ability to sit for extended periods of time, close vision, ability to adjust focus and see color
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
