Job Title: Interviewer

Location: HIV/AIDS Coordinating Unit (HACU), Sacred Heart Building, Sackville Street, Port of Spain

Reports to: Field Supervisor

Purpose and Description

NASTAD is seekingto hire competent study staff for theimplementation of a Health Survey within a key population group in Trinidad and Tobago. The Interviewer is responsible for greeting participants upon arrival at the survey site and assuring their successful progression through the survey process. This is a temporary position, with a duration of three (3) months.

Key Responsibilities

Candidates must demonstrate proven ability and capacity to execute the following functions:

·  Conducts eligibility screening; obtains informed consent; trains and monitors participants during self-administration of survey using desktop computers.

·  Explains study procedures and processes for participants.

·  Completes visit checklists for each participant.

·  Assists with ongoing formative research activities, such as identifying and recruiting new seeds or conducting observations around field site, as needed.

·  Assures proper storage and security of all study materials.

·  Maintains comprehensive log of data errors, and discuss them with the Field Supervisor daily.

Other activities as requested:

·  Schedules participant appointments.

·  Orders supplies, prepares study materials and photocopy.

·  Data entry, such as HIV and STD test results.

Minimum Requirements

Knowledge and Skills

·  Excellent written/oral communication skills.

·  Excellent attention to detail.

·  Ability to comply with strict protocols for confidentiality and privacy.

·  Must be a team player/builder.

·  Strong ability to work independently and autonomously.

·  Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with participants and staff with a high level of tact, diplomacy and confidentiality.

·  Ability to follow complex procedures and provide detailed record keeping.

·  Experience working in the field and in non-traditional office settings.

·  Ability to respond calmly, professionally and appropriately to erratic or unpredictable participant behavior.

·  Ability to adapt quickly to unexpected logistical or operational changes in the field office.

·  Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

·  Proven ability to think critically and creatively.

Education/Experience

·  Evidence of gaining Five (5) O' Levels/CXC passes including English and a numerical subject.

·  Consideration will be given to a combination of experience, qualifications and skills.

·  Experience facilitating interviews on a regular basis.

·  Experience managing confidential and sensitive information in a research environment.

·  A minimum of eighteen (18) months experience working with HIV/STI vulnerable sub-populations will be considered an asset.

Working Conditions

Given the nature of the position candidates will be asked to work from sites located in the Central andSouth of the islandas well as inTobago. The selected candidateswill be required towork evening hours as well as on Saturdays.

Special Requirements

Depending on the final survey requirements, the ability to verbally communicate at an advanced level in Spanish will be considered an asset.
