A non-profit organization in Mesa County serving homeless teens, youths, and adults. The goals of Karis programs are to help our homeless neighbors improve overall well-being; develop permanent positive relationships; build educational and/or employment skills; and establish safe and reliable housing. Karis’ programs include The House, Zoe House, the Street Outreach Program, the Other House, and Asset House.

Position Description

The Program Director (a full-time, exempt position) oversees operations for all Karis programs that serve homeless teens, youths, and adults. The programs currently include The House (teen shelter), Zoe House (a transitional housing program for victims and survivors or domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, and/or stalking), Street Outreach Program (SOP), the Other House (a transitional housing program for youths from the House or SOP), and Asset House (a transitional housing program for adults). Each of these programs works to transition young adults to future of hope and stability by working with staff, interns and volunteers. The Director also works with Karis’ Executive Director (ED) to develop these programs, and to envision and develop new program opportunities. The Director also serves as the Karis representative at various community meetings and forums and reports directly to Karis’ ED.

Availability

Must be able to work during business hours (8 am – 5 pm, Monday through Friday). On call duties require availability on some weekends, evenings, and holidays.

Primary Duties

  1. Supervision
  • Provide direct supervision to all Karis Program Coordinators
  • Provide supervision to other staff as needed
  • Provide clinical supervision to all staff, interns, and contract therapists (if the candidate has clinical training and experience)
  1. Program Management
  • Work closely with Program Coordinators to ensure that programs comply with all funding and licensing requirements
  • Facilitate weekly leadership meetings to ensure operation of programs is being run smoothly and efficiently
  • Work closely with staff to implement program goals and objectives and to ensure that program practices are in-line with best practices and researched based methods
  • Ensure all program evaluation tools are properly implemented and that evaluation data is collected
  • Work closely with Statistics Consultant to develop and monitor evaluation tools and data collection
  • Work closely with Program Coordinators to ensure that reports are completed in a timely manner
  • Work closely with Program Coordinators to ensure that documentation is completed according to standards in a timely manner
  • Provide support and consultation for all staff in crisis management
  • Oversee training programs for all staff and volunteers
  • Work with Program Coordinators to determine annual budgets and oversee program expenditures
  • Design and implement policies and procedures for all program matters
  • Fulfill on call duties
  1. Community Partnership
  • Represent Karis in community meetings
  • Work closely with Karis partners to ensure efficient and effective coordination of care (these partnerships include, but are not limited to, Graff Dairy, Mind Springs Health, Griffith Centers for Children, Juniper Family Practice, School District #51, and Department of Human Services)
  • Develop new community partners as needed
  1. Program Development
  • Work with the Executive Director and staff to develop new programs for homeless teens and youths
  1. Administrative and Other Duties
  • Update all program manual as needed
  • Work with Program Coordinators to ensure specific program manuals are updated
  • Work closely with Operations to ensure staff comply with policies and procedures of human resources and operational matters
  • Other duties as assigned by the ED and the Board of Directors

Training and Experience
Minimum educational requirements for this position are a Bachelor’s Degree from an Accredited College in a human service field, and five years of experience in a human services field in a supervisory role. A master’s degree in Social Work or a doctoral degree in psychology with clinical licenses is preferred and reduces the experience requirement by two years.

Knowledge and Abilities
Proven ability to oversee programs and personnel. Excellent ability to communicate orally and in writing to a wide range of people; effective planning and organization skills; proven ability to maintain good working relationships with a variety of people and groups, and working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. Knowledge and experience in utilizing Trauma Informed Care and Motivational Interviewing.

Compensation and benefits
Karis has competitive pay and benefits. Pay range is $50,000 to $68,000 per year depending on educational background and work experiences.
