WestCoast Children's Clinic's STAT program is a seeking a skilled Foster Care Milieu Supervisor who is committed to helping children and youth in the foster care system reach their full potential. The Milieu Supervisor works as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care, assessment, and supervision of children in a nurturing, child-friendly environment at the Alameda County Assessment Center.

Program and Position Overview:

The WestCoast Children's Clinic's STAT program is an innovative, model program that provides mental health Screening, Stabilization, and Transition (STAT) services to children as they enter or change placements in the foster care system in Alameda County. The Milieu Supervisor works as part of a multidisciplinary team that includes STAT Clinicians, STAT Support Counselors, the STAT Assistant Program Director, Alameda County Social Service staff, Youth Advocates and the Assessment Center Public Health Nurse to provide comprehensive care, assessment, and supervision of children in a nurturing, child-friendly environment at the Alameda County Assessment Center. The Milieu Supervisor is responsible for supervising the work of STAT Support Counselors and providing individual and group supervision. Children come to the Assessment Center after being removed from their home for reasons of abuse and/or neglect or when they are changing placement within the foster care system. Children stay at the Assessment Center while they await placement in a foster home, in a group home or with a relative (23 hour target for clients' placements). All job duties are completed with the intention of supporting and stabilizing the child, providing a comprehensive assessment, and preparing him/her for placement.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The STAT Foster Care Milieu Supervisor position is a full-time position with benefits.

The ideal candidate has:

∙ Master's or doctoral degree in psychology, counseling, or social work. Licensed or license eligible preferred. Must be registered or qualified to register with the BBS or Board of Psychology.

∙ Based on our funding sources, California Department of Mental Health requires all unlicensed psychologists to apply for a professional licensing waiver or show proof of a valid waiver prior to hire date.

∙ Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical work experience after receiving graduate degree.

∙ Prior experience working in a residential, day treatment, or psychiatric milieu setting highly desirable.

∙ Supervisory experience required or demonstrated progressive increase of responsibilities in current/past employment.

∙ CPR, First Aid, and Bloodborne Pathogens certification is required.

∙ De-escalation techniques are preferred.

∙ Demonstrated clinical experience with foster care, child protective services, community mental health, and/or community psychology models.

∙ Clinical service skill -- assessment/evaluation, medication management, clinical skills, crisis intervention, ability to use supervision effectively, ethical and legal responsibilities, high quality clinical documentation

∙ Providing supervision -- supervising others, hiring and staffing

∙ Efficiency and time management -- ability to be well-organized and complete timely documentation

∙ Collaboration and team functioning -- able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team

∙ Knowledge of attachment theory, brief psychotherapy modalities, early childhood and adolescent development, trauma, and principles of milieu therapy.

∙ Professional conduct

∙ Communication skills

∙ Cultural competence -- knowledge of issues of race, class and ethnicity

∙ Ability to work effectively with clients who have complex, multiple diagnosis histories

∙ Knowledge of or ability to learn Medi-Cal reimbursement procedures and billing

Position Details and Compensation:

This is a full-time, non-exempt position reporting to the STAT Assistant Program Director. Salary range for this position is $55,000 -- $64,000 annually depending on experience and licensure type. Includes competitive compensation and benefits package, 403(b) and performance based compensation plans.
