Dr. Grant Hill
Biography:
Dr. Grant Hill has extensive teaching and leadership experience at the K-12 and university levels of education. He taught Physical Education in the Seattle and EdmondsPublic Schools in the state of Washington. He also served as a high school Vice Principal for two years. He received a Ph.D. from the University of Iowa in 1987. He taught at the University of Southern California (1987-89), SeattlePacificUniversity (1989-2001), and has been at CaliforniaStateUniversity, Long Beach since 2001. While at SeattlePacificUniversity, he served as the Chair of the Department of Physical Education for 6 years, was the Director of the Graduate Program in Physical Education, and was Chair of the Faculty during the 1999-2000 academic year. He also taught one period of middle school physical education (grades 7 & 8) each day in the EdmondsSchool District during his last eight years at SeattlePacificUniversity.
He is currently serving as the director of the CSULB Masters program in Physical Education, Pedagogy. This program enables K-12 teachers, coaches, and activities directors to earn a Masters degree and prepare for National Board Certification. Information regarding this degree option may be found at .
He is also the director of the General Activities Program at CSULB.
Dr. Hill’s research interests include fitness promotion, teacher preparation, and teaching methodology. He has published articles in leading Kinesiology journals including, The Physical Educator, JOPERD, The Journal of Sport and Social Issues, Sociology of Sport Journal, Strategies, and The High School Journal.
