Program Ads Fundraiser

Program ads are our main fundraiser for the Drama program, so we encourage you to seek out community businesses and/or put in a congratulatory ad for your favorite cast or crew member.

What is a Business Ad?

Local Businesses ad is an advertisement that offers goods or services, or provides an outlet for congratulations from a business, group or organization. See the attached form for more information. I have also included a list of all the organizations that have put ads in our programs before. Start there. Also if you know someone who owns a business, is a realtor, sells a product like Mary Kay, etc, these would be great people to ask about putting in an ad.

How do I sell these ads?

This is just like selling any other product. If you believe in what you are selling that’s half the battle.

Talk to them about the show & how important Drama is at DMS

Clinch the sale on the spot if possible. Don’t give them a chance to change their minds.

Who should I sell these ads to?

See the attached list of businesses who have put ads in our program before, and start there. Businesses are always looking for ways to advertise and this is a great way for them to give back and expose a new audience to their business.

What is a Line Ad?

Line ads are for family, friends and other individuals to send messages of luck and congratulations. All ads are $1 per word. So if you want to sell a twenty-word ad, that would be $20.

$10Ten-Twelve word Ad

For example: “Jose, we’re so proud of you! Love, Your Mom & Dad”.

$5Five word ad

For example:“Jane, you are amazing! – Mom” or “We love our loony Lefou”

$2Two word ad

For example: “Ian rocks!” or “Go Mrs. Potts!”

Who should I sell these ads to?

Teachers, Parents, Family Members, Friends/Classmates, Neighbors, Coaches, etc.

*All ads can be emailed to

How will the funds collected be used?

For the past few years we have been raising funds for our “Light Up DMS” campaign through donations, crowd funding and production program ads.

Thanks to the DMS community, we reached our goal of $18,000 in June 2016. This summer, $11,000 was used to rewire, remove, and update our “vintage” system. Also, thanks to a gracious donation of a “new to us”dimmer rack from Columbus Children’s Theatre, we were able to do much more than originally anticipated.

We also have used funds collected from program ads toward the purchase of new curtains for the auditorium stage ($3,000), which were also installed in the summer of 2016. In the Spring of 2017 we had a white cyclorama installed ($4,000) which we are able to light to create various colored backgrounds to be used in drama productions, vocal music concerts & instrumental music concerts.

We have also used program ad funds to improve the sound for our drama productions. During the 2016/17 school year we spent approximately $800 on replacing aging wireless microphone equipment.

In the fall of 2017 we purchased a “new to us” light board ($1,000) that will hopefully be more dependable than our previous one. We are also installing some backstage controls to be able to have a few light pre-set backstage for easier usage by non-drama staff members.

Our future light plans include additional LED lighting fixtures to give us more flexibility with our lighting needs, and replacing our aging spotlight.

We need your help.

We ask that eachcast & crew member

sell at least$30 worth of ads

Dear Local Business,

The DMS Drama Department is a theatre organization at Dominion Middle School in the heart of Clintonville. We do several productions throughout the school year: a Fall Play (Nov.), Spring Musical (March) and Spring Talent Show (April). However, we need support from you, the community, to help fund these productions. Usually, this support is financial, and one method is selling advertisements in our programs. DMS Drama receives no monetary support for our program from the school system, and as we are building up our program, it becomes imperative that we look to the community for the revenue we need to produce the high quality productions the public has grown to expect from Dominion Middle School.

In recent seasons, the public response to our shows has been incredible with 600-800 people seeing our fall play, and between 800-1200 people seeing our musicals. That also translates into an incredible amount of local consumers seeing your advertisement in our programs. Not only will you be helping the DMS Drama Department put up a fabulous show, you’ll be getting your business known to the public including students, parents, teachers, as well as the general community!

We offer three different options for placing an ad:

$15 = Quarter Page (Business Card): 1 7/8” by 3 1/4”

$30 = Half Page: 3 3/4” by 4 1/2”

$60 = Full Page: 7 1/2” by 4 1/2”

We are currently doing Annie Jr.

If you have any questions, or are interested in placing an ad or making a donation, please contact Emily Whittaker at or (614) 638-8918. We also have included the appropriate information on the reverse side if you would prefer to contact us by traditional mail.

We need YOUR help to continue making the magic of theatre a reality and we thank you for your continued support!

Sincerely,

Emily Whittaker
