Peri-Implant Maintenance: An Evidence-Based Approach

The field of dental implantology is vast, ever-changing and can be intimidating. It is vital to be able to thoroughly assess and address the maintenance needs of your implant clients, both in the office and at home. If you want to learn the most current, evidence-based maintenance protocols and how to implement them in your practice, then this course is for you! It will cover:

  • History of and rationale for dental implants: Why Implants?
  • Implant types, terminology and surface preparations
  • Assessment and treatment parameters for peri-implant mucositis, peri- implantitis and peri-implant cementitis.
  • Maintenance protocols for both in-office and client home care

Edie Shuman-Gibson, RDH, BSDH, MSc, FADIAis a humorous, charismatic, knowledge-wealthy presenter with nearly three decades in the field of dentistry, 20 exclusively in implants, and a mission and passion to affect CHANGE!She is the former Executive Director, Certified Educator and Founding Fellow of the Association of Dental Implant Auxiliaries (ADIA).For over 7 years, Edie owned a private dental hygiene and cosmetic spa until spinal surgery ended her clinical career. Her expertise in leadership, business management, sales, health and wellness, combined with her extensive dental background, is what makes her such a dynamic trainer!

Currently, Edie is a Clinical Trainer/Advisor for The Implant Consortium, a Corporate Trainer for Balancing Life’s Issues, Inc. and an independent speaking professional. She served on the Editorial Review Board for the Journal of Practical Hygiene, is a Thought Leader for Hu-Friedy, a Key Opinion Leader for Crown Seating and PDT Instruments, a make–up artist, published author and equestrian. Edie is also the Volunteer Coordinator for CASA, Voices for Children (Court Appointed Special Advocates) in Gunnison County, CO and, along with her husband Chris, runs a transitional living facility for menstruggling with addictions called The New Adams House in beautiful Crested Butte, CO.
