PRODUCTION EXTENSION 2015

LAMINAM has multiplied the scale and uses of ceramics with its new production range of EXTRA LARGE slabs (1600x3200)

LAMINAM, absolute leader in the production of large size and minimum thicknessceramic slabs for architecture, interiors and design, has made a further achievement in the rediscovery of ceramics, a continuation of its tireless search for this materials' expressive impact and technical possibilities, with its latest Extra Large format 1600x3200.

The company has gone from strength to strength, with a 30% increase in turnover reaching 40 million Euros in 2014 and an expected 50 million Euros for the current year, ever ready to embrace new challenges and ideas. A fourth rangewas launched in July 2015, with total productive capacity set to reach a million slabs.

Production expansion has not only led to considerable increases in the productive capacity of ceramic slabs in the 1000x3000 mm format in a variety of thicknesses– an impressive rhythm of 50 prints per hour: the new line has enabled an increase in daily output of approximately 4000 m2 of material – but also to the creation of a new product: extra large slabs up to 1600x3200 mm in size, 6 to 20 mm in thickness, which has bolstered the material's freedom and range of possible applications.

The Gea press system represents the strength and heart of the Laminam production system, featuring state of the art press technology where powders are directly placed onto the belt without the use of special carts: in this way the slab remains tension-free and is able to expand and create perfectly regular and defect-free material, even in the latest oversize ranges, with a 50% reduction in energy consumption compared to traditional pressing systems. The wet decoration of slabs is executed by a group of three maxi Rotocolors®, the most complete and technologically advanced system for the decoration of large size ceramic slabs, along with another two groups with Creadigit digital technology, for a unique precision in even the most complex graphics, whereas the new firing area, approximately 140 m in length, previously 80 metres, consists of an initial rapid drying cycle and a gas kiln system which enables the firing of increasingly thick slabs in under 100 minutes.

These further developments at the site located in the heart of the Modena province represent a veritable technological asset, characterised by cleanliness and rationality, thanks to a new, entirely automated production plant which creates, decorates and fires slabs along a total linear length of 350 m, together with an innovative vertical warehouse with guided laser vehicles powered without operators.

Created in 2001 from a pioneering idea by the Eng. Franco Stefani, who executed, patented the production technology and envisioned the use of an evolutionary product which has revolutionised a mature sector. With the [R1]installation of a new production line, LAMINAM has once more proven its talent and bravery in the search for unprecedented experimental solutions in terms of type and scale.

The new series 1600x3200, 12 mm thick shall be presented at Marmomacc, the prestigious international material, design and technology trade fair scheduled to take place from the 30th September to the 3rd October in Verona.

THE NEW 1600x3200 12 MM THICK SERIES

Freedom of vision and flexibility through technological excellence. The new Laminam 1600x3200 series represents the culmination of profound and constant technological research aimed at the achievement of ever increasing heights of product performance, developed through the use of new in-line production featuring the Gea press system.

Usable in ventilated, insulation or applied façades and external cladding, the new 1600x3200 12 mm thick range has been designed for interior architecture and design objects, for the enhanced optimisation of surfaces, a strong and sculptural architectonic feature for bathroom and kitchen tops, wardrobes, tables, desks, doors and other furnishings. Orderly and creative home habitat redesign is now possible, highly evocative interiors can be created with a range of ten continuous decoration colours, inspired by elements such as cement, marble, wood and oxidised iron, skilfully revoked through the use of refined wet decoration techniques by three maxi Rotocolors®, the most complete and technologically advanced solution for thickness decoration of large size ceramic slabs.
