SECTION 074200 – Composite Wall Panels

PART 1 - GENERAL

1.1SUMMARY

  1. Section includes: Wood - Plastic – Composite (WPC) planks/panels for external wall cladding systems, including, but not limited to:

1.3ADMINISTRATIVE REQUIREMENTS

  1. Pre-installation Meetings:
  2. Before the installation, at least 2 weeksbefore, a meeting between project stakeholders is required in order to co-ordinate .

1.4SUBMITTALS

  1. Product data: Woodn will submit to the Client all the specification of the profile, including technical data, catalogs, performance capabilities and accessories
  2. Shop Drawings: drawings will be submitted : they show layout including dimensions, positions, thickness, location of joints required , reinforcements, accessories , etc.
  3. Samples: if requested, the manufacturer will submit a sample of at least 2 inch by 2 inch of the planks panel in order to represent the system, color, finishing. Will be submitted a sample for each kind of designed system.
  4. Mock-up: if requested, the manufacturer will produce and send a full scale mock-up representative of the work, including accessories and everything present in the approved shop drawings. Approved mock-up may remain as part of finished work on project.
  5. Quality control submittals: if requested, the manufacturer will submit to Client the quality control forms used for internal quality assurance and supplied goods quality assurance.
  6. Closeout submittals: the manufacturer in the technical documents provide the guidelines for installation and for general maintenance.

1.5QUALITY ASSURANCE

  1. The manufacturer can provide all the document about accessories and main product quality, qualifications and certifications. The quality is assured along all the supply chain.
  2. Mockups: Build mockups to verify selections made under Sample submittals and to demonstrate aesthetic effects and to set quality standards for fabrication and installation.
  3. Build mockups for composite siding including accessories.
  4. Size: 48 inches long by 60 inches high.
  5. Include outside corner on one end of mockupand inside corner on other end.
  6. Approval of mockups does not constitute approval of deviations from the Contract Documents contained in mockups unless Architect specifically approves such deviations in writing.

1.6DELIVERY, STORAGE & HANDLING

  1. Deliver, store and handle composite wood planks and accessories according to manufacturer’s written recommendations and instructions.
  2. Store materials protected from exposure to high humidity and high temperature:
  3. Keep the material in stock at temperatures close to the installation environment for at least 48 hours prior the installations.
  4. Store the planks on a flat surface, avoiding direct exposure to sunlight.
  5. Do not cover the product with non-breathable materials (nylon or similar).
  6. Protect finish and edges of planks

1.7PROJECT CONDITIONS

  1. Maintain environmental conditions (temperature, humidity and ventilation) within limits recommended by manufacturer for optimum results. Do not install products under environmental conditions outside manufactures absolute limits.
  2. Field Measurements: Secure field measurements before preparation of shop drawings and fabrication where possible, for proper fabrication and installation of the work.

1.8WARRANTY

  1. Special Warranty: Manufacturer agrees to repair or replace products that fail in materials or workmanship within specified warranty period.
  2. Failures include, but are not limited to, the following:
  3. Structural failures including cracking and deforming.
  4. Deterioration of materials beyond normal weathering.
  5. Warranty Period: 10 years from date of Substantial Completion.

2.1WOODN MODULATUS _ Q20410

Product: WOODN MODULATUS _ Q20410: Exterior Grade Wood Composite Panels: Exterior grade, UV and weather resistant composite plank cladding for exterior use with no painting, staining or maintenance required. Made from natural recycled plant materials, joined with thermosplastic polymer (PVC) in homogeneous extruded compound without the use of volatile substances.

2.2PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS

  12. Resistance to accelerated aging according to UNI norms EN ISO 4892-2:2009 and EN 20105-A02:1996. 3,600 hours of exposure. Grey Scale results (comparing to samples aged for 1200 hours) = 4/5 rating (4 rating for colors 10 and 13)

2.3ACCESSORIES and COMPONENTS

  1. Installation materials: Standard components of the system: Aluminum Substructure profile MP2020_2AL, fixing clip KK3530, screw SDRH 3.5 x 16A2, dowel pin CP_D2x24A2. The accessories are designed, engineered and specified by others approved suppliers
  2. Provide Trim, gaskets, fasteners and other related accessories recommended by the manufacturer to provide a complete system.
  3. Sub-Framing and Fasteners: Provide sub-framing component and fasteners by manufacture or approved by manufacture.

2.4FABRICATION

  1. Fabricate composite panels and accessory items in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations and approved submittals.
  2. Fabricate panels to sizes indicated.
  3. Flashing: Provide aluminum flashing complying with Section076200 "Sheet Metal Flashing and Trim" at window and door heads and where indicated.
  4. Finish for Aluminum Flashing: Siliconized polyester coating.
  5. Fasteners:
  6. For fastening to wood, use ribbed bugle-head screws of sufficient length to penetrate a minimum of 1 inch into substrate.
  7. For fastening to metal, use ribbed bugle-head screws of sufficient length to penetrate a minimum of 1/4 inch, or three screw-threads, into substrate.
  8. Fastener Material: Stainless-steel.

PART 3 - EXECUTION

3.1MANUFATURER’S INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Compliance: comply with manufacturer ‘s product data, including product technical criteria, product technical catalogue and product shipping container, codes identification corresponding with planks layout as indicated on approved shop drawings submittals.

3.2EXAMINATION

  1. Examine substrates for compliance with requirements for installation tolerances and other conditions affecting performance of composite siding and related accessories.
  2. Examine alignment of backup structure prior to installing sub-frame. Do not proceed until all defects are corrected.
  3. Proceed with installation only after unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected.

3.3PREPARATION

  1. Clean substrates of projections and substances detrimental to application.

3.4INSTALLATION

  1. General: Comply with manufacturer's written installation instructions applicable to products and applications indicated unless more stringent requirements apply.
  2. Do not install damaged components.
  3. Install fasteners no more than 24 incheso.c.
  4. Attachment system: Hidden fastening system with hanger system or Exposed fastening system with screws as per manufacturer’s system details. Vertical supports allowing minimum of 1” cavity behind panels to allow sufficient ventilation.
  5. Fasten solid exterior wall panels to supporting substrate with fasteners approved for use with adjoining construction.
  6. Accessory Items: Install corner profiles, gaskets and trim with fasteners and adhesive appropriate for use with adjoining constructions as indicated on drawings and as recommended by manufacturer.

3.5PROTECTION

  1. Protect installed product and finish surfaces from damage during construction and on site trasportation.

3.6ADJUSTING AND CLEANING

  1. Remove damaged, improperly installed, or otherwise defective materials and replace with new materials complying with specified requirements.
  2. Clean finished surfaces according to manufacturer's written instructions and maintain in a clean condition during construction.
