TERMS & DEFINITIONS

PERIMETER LINE:

The length at the sides, nape, front, or back of the head.Also known as the external or outside line.

INTERIOR LINE:

Refers in some cases to the top crown, above occipital bone, the temple, or

the crest line.

HORIZONTAL:

Side to side, left to right, or right to left.

VERTICAL:

Up and down.

DIAGONAL:

A line with a slanting or sloping direction.

SCOOPING:

(Technique)

Process by which clippers are placed on the head and moved up and out in a “scooping” motion, to create slight length, or graduation.

STRAIGHT UP:

(Technique)

Process by which clippers are placed on the head and moved in a vertical up motion, with out following the curve of the head, to create minimal length or graduation.

CLIPPER / FADE COMB:

Medium to large in size used for clipper over comb while not employing guards.

Use white or light colored combs on dark hair and vice versa.
