Role purpose: / To manage, maintain and develop the fundraising database at Refuge in line with good practice and legal requirements. To produce intelligence and digital analytics to inform the fundraising strategy to help achieve increasing levels of income.

Main responsibilities
Data and Digital Management
- Manage Refuge’s Raiser’s Edge (version 7.92.5) database system to help facilitate and further develop the organisation’s fundraising strategy.
- Produce, develop and maintain the structure of all database business rules and set-up functions.
- Establish, implement and maintain Raisers Edge user guides and ensure all database users are sufficiently trained.
- Establish and promote policies and procedures to ensure the databases correct usage and to safeguard its accuracy and security including undertaking regular quality checks across all data.
- Provide data as asked for in the team’s data selection requests, developing and delivering these in a timely and accurate manner and to provide technical advice to the team to improvetheir data selection requests where necessary.
- Build and manage the Refuge Google Grant account, ensuring best use of this resource to improve the overall return on investment of individual giving and event campaigns.
- Manage the external email communications system Adestra, working closely with the Individualgiving and digital senior executive to ensure all digital aspects of the Refuge supporter journey are delivered.
- Work closely with the Individual giving and digital senior executive to maintain the Get Involved section of the Refuge website (including the Donate area) ensuring the online payment system (IATs) is working effectively.
- Work closely with the Individualgiving and digital senior executive to ensure our digital strategies are technically sound and supported.
- Work closely with the Director of finance to ensure all data protection policies are adhered to in regards to supporter information and ensure that data is processed in such a way as to be compliant with the official registers: telephone preference services (TPS), mailing preference services (MPS) and other legislative/best practice requirements.
Data and digital reporting
- Provide regular data updates to the Fundraising team; includes counts, reports, giving trends and analysis of findings to facilitate decision making and future planning.
- Carry out regular digital tracking to ensure all campaigns and communications are as effective as possible, making sure learnings are incorporated into future strategy.
- Line manage and provide regular supervision and support for the full time Fundraising assistant ensuring their work is delivered in a timely and effective manner.
- Support the Fundraising assistant in building effective systems and procedures for gift processing and thanking and banking systems.
- Manage the data import files from Refuge’s external agencies, through producing the data specification documents for each appeal/campaign that the agencies need to adhere to, testing the import files, making sure that our requirements are met and quality checking the data.
- Work with external list broking agency to select potentially successful cold mailing lists.
- Maintain links, through User Groups, with Database Managers at other organisations and to hold current knowledge on sector-wide developments and innovations around relational databases.
- Join all relevant digital and database forums in the sector and explore all networking and knowledge sharing opportunities, regularly monitoring the competitive market place making recommendations to enhance Refuge’s fundraising strategy.
- Develop and maintain an understanding of the work of Refuge.
