GANG OF NOTORIOUS BURGLARS BUSTED : 5 CASES OF HOUSE THEFTS WORKED OUT AND STOLEN PROPERTY RECOVERED

With the arrest of three burglars namely Jagpreet @ Jojo @ Sonu (32 years), Rajesh @ Raj Kumar Tiwari (24 years) and Sudhir Kumar (32 years), the staff of PS Vijay Vihar, Outer District has busted a gang of notorious burglars and five cases of house thefts of PS Vijay Vihar worked out as well as stolen jewellery / silver articles in huge quantity recovered from their possession.

INCIDENT & TEAM:

On the intervening night of 15/16-09-10, a PCR call regarding house theft at C-40, Vijay Vihar, Phase-II was received at PS Vijay Vihar and the same was entrusted to ASI Roop Lal for necessary action. IO/ASI Roop Lal immediately reached at the spot where the complainant Sh. Pradeep Kumar (both complainant and his wife Rita Devi are BC of PS Vijay Vihar and previously involved in more than 20 cases of Excise Act) informed that he along with his family members had gone to attend a marriage party at the house of his in-laws. When they came back, they found that main gate of the house was broken and the jewelry articles, cash and mobile phone had been stolen. On the statement of complainant, a case vide FIR No. 334/2010 u/s 357/380 IPC was registered at PS Vijay Vihar and the investigation taken up.

In order to solve the case and to nab the accused persons, a team comprising of ASI Satbir Singh, HC Pradeep Kumar, Ct. Ramphal, Ct. Ravinder and Ct. Joginder under the supervision of Inspr. Hari Singh, SHO Vijay Vihar and overall supervision of Sh. Om Prakash, ACP Rohini was constituted.

INVESTIGATION AND ARREST:

During the course of investigation, members of eyes and ears scheme were utilized and sources were deployed to have any clue or information about the culprits, which finally bore fruitful results. On 10-10-10, secret information from the reliable source was received that some persons would come in Sector-5, Rohini in the evening to dispose off the stolen articles. Immediately, the members of team set a strong picket at main road Sector-5, near Petrol Pump, Rohini and started to conduct the checking of vehicles. At about 7.45 pm, during the checking of vehicles the staff signaled a TSR bearing registration No. DL-RF-7491 for checking but the TSR driver instead of stopping his auto tried to escape by accelerating the speed. The alert picket staff made valiant efforts and overpowered the driver of auto with two boys sitting in the TSR after a brief chase. On their personal search, seven gold rings, two pair of gold ear rings, two gold lockets, one silver anklet, one gold ‘moon’, one gold and diamond ear top, one silver ‘sindoorcase’, one silver toy and one mobile phone recovered from their possession. On enquiry, they could not give any satisfactory reply regarding the ownership and possession of gold / silver articles. On sustained interrogation, they disclosed that they along with their other accomplices had committed series of burglaries in the area of PS Vijay Vihar and disclosed that the above articles were stolen from H. No. C-40, Vijay Vihar. On further interrogation they also disclosed their involvements in four other cases of burglaries committed in the area of PS Vijay Vihar.

They had disposed off two stolen gold rings at Mutooth Finance, Sector-5, Rohini by pretending that they had urgent need of money and wanted loan against gold rings which they finally succeeded after completing the paper formalities. During the course of investigation, both the gold rings have been recovered from Mutooth Finance.

MODUS OPERANDI:

The modus operandi of the gang is that they used to roam in the area during night to identify a soft target. They used to target the locked house where the occupants had gone out or the house where the main gate was found to be locked or the occupants were sleeping on the roof top of the house. They always carry iron rods with them to break open the locks of the main gates, doors and almirahs, etc.

PROFILE OF ACCUSED PERSONS :

1.  Jagpreet @ Jojo @ Sonu (32 years) s/o Charanjeet Singh r/o C-43, Vijay Vihar-II, Delhi is a school drop out. He is still unmarried and having father, mother and one brother in his family. He is a drug addict. He runs a TSR. He is previously involved in an accident case of PS Pahar Gang and the same is under trial.

2.  Rajesh @ Raj Kumar Tiwari (24 years) s/o Prayag Dutt Tiwari r/o Village Chori Chora, Bhopa Bazar, District Gorakhpur (U.P) is a school drop out. He is still unmarried and having father, mother and three sisters in his family. He is also a drug addict and runs a TSR.

3.  Sudhir Kumar (32 years) s/o Bachchi r/o A-383, Metro Vihar-II, Holambi Kalan, Delhi is a school drop out. He is married and having two children and runs a TSR.

GANG OF BURGLARS BUSTED : 6 CASES WORKED OUT

With the arrest of Sonu Sharma @ Manoj @ Fakira (24 years) s/o Brahmdev Sharma r/o Village Rithala, Vijay Vihar, Delhi, Mohit @ Chikna (23 years) s/o Ashok r/o F-62, Jailerwala Bagh, Ashok Vihar (Phase-II), Delhi, Manoj Jha @ Santosh Pandit (24 years) s/o Narain Jha r/o Village Rithala, Delhi and Vijay @ Kalia (24 years) s/o Jagan Nath r/o Vagabond, Delhi, the staff of PS South Rohini busted a gang of active burglars and recovered part of stolen articles from their possession.

INCIDENT & TEAM :

In view of on going festive season and Commonwealth Games, close watch was being kept at M2K, Rohini by the staff of local police comprising of SI Ajay Karan Sharma, Ct. Inderjeet, 2125/OD and Ct. Babloo, 676/OD under the close supervision of Inspr. Vijenderpal, SHO/South Rohini. On 11.10.10 at about 4 PM, one Mohit @ Chikna was passing through M2K by dragging a motor cycle without having a number plate on its front side along with one more person namely Manoj Jha @ Santosh Pandit. On suspicion, the above staff stopped them and asked for the ownership of papers of the motor cycle to which they started to make excuses and could not give any satisfactory reply. Motor Cycle was having number plate on its back side bearing Regn. No. DL-8S-AT-0602 (make Yamaha FZS) and same was verified through ZIP Net and found to be reported stolen from the area of PS South Rohini and wanted in case FIR No. 301/10 u/s 379 IPC PS South Rohini. On search of Manoj Jha @ Santosh Pandit, one mobile phone (make Samsung Guru SGH B130T) was recovered from his possession. On verification, the mobile phone was found to be reported stolen and wanted in case FIR No. 326/10 u/s 457/380 IPC PS South Rohini. Accordingly, both the accused persons were taken into police custody and investigation taken up.

INVESTIGATION / INTERROGATION :

During the course of investigation, Manoj Jha @ Santosh Pandit disclosed that Mohit @ Chikna is their gang leader and they had committed series of burglaries in the area of Rohini and other parts of Delhi with their other associates namely Pyare, Munshi and Tinda, all residents of Bhalswa Dairy, Delhi. During the course of investigation, at the instance of accused Manoj and Mohit, one of their associates namely Sonu Sharma @ Manoj @ Fakira was arrested from Village Rithala and a mobile phone wanted in case FIR No. 320/10 u/s 457/380 IPC PS South Rohini was recovered from his possession. Later on, at the instance of accused Vijay @ Kalia was also arrested from Metro Station Rithala and a mobile phone (make Nokia-5130) was recovered from his possession which is wanted in case FIR No. 326/10 u/s 457/380 IPC PS South Rohini. Raids were conducted to arrest their other associates but they were found absconding. Efforts are being made to arrest them and more recovery is likely to be affected.

MODUS OPERANDI :

They used to target locked house during the day time and during night they used to identify such house where the windows or doors were found to be opened. After identifying a soft target, they would steal whatever is readily available, especially cash, jewellery and mobile phones.

PROFILE OF ACCUSED PERSONS :

1.  Sonu Sharma @ Manoj @ Fakira s/o Brahmdev Sharma r/o Village Rithala, Vijay Vihar, Delhi is a school drop out. He is married and having two kids. He is also having father, mother and two brothers. His father is Sub Inspector in CISF. He himself is a rickshaw puller. He is a drug addict. He is previously involved in case FIR No. 825/07 u/s 394/411 IPC PS Rohini (now South Rohini) and recently bailed out.

2.  Mohit @ Chikna s/o Ashok r/o F-62, Jailer Wala Bagh, Ashok Vihar Phase-II, Delhi is a school drop out. He is married and having two children. He originally belongs to Kanpur, UP. He belongs to a well settled family but fell into bad company and became a drug addict. He ran away from Kanpur and came to Delhi. He had no source of income to fulfill his evil habits and hence started to commit burglaries after forming his own gang. He is previously involved in two cases of house theft of PS Saraswati Vihar and recently bailed out.

3.  Manoj Jha @ Santosh Pandit s/o Narain Jha r/o Village Rithala, Delhi is a school drop out. He originally belongs to Bihar. He is a rickshaw puller. He came to Delhi in search of employment but fell into bad company and became a drug addict. He joined Mohit @ Chikna and started to commit burglaries. He is previously involved in a case of M.V. theft of PS Rani Bagh and Arms Act case of PS Saraswati Vihar.

4.  Vijay @ Kalia s/o Jagan Nath r/o Vagabond, Delhi is illiterate. He is still unmarried. He originally belongs to Basti, UP. He is a rickshaw puller. He came to Delhi in search of employment but fell into bad company and became a drug addict and later on started to commit burglaries with Mohit. He is previously involved in a theft case of PS Rohini (now South Rohini).

RECOVERIES MADE :

1.  Motor Cycle No. DL-8S-AT-0602 (make Yamaha FZS)

2.  Three mobile phones.

Whereas information has been received that some people/groups may indulge in activities prejudicial to the maintenance of peace in North-East District, Delhi.

2. And whereas such activities may seriously endanger life and property of the citizens and maintenance of law and order in the North-East District, Delhi.

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred upon me by section 144 Criminal procedures Code, 1973 read with Govt. of India Ministry of Home Affairs, New Delhi’s Notification No. 11036/1/2010-UTL dated 09.09.2010, I, CHANDER KANT Asstt. Commissioner of Police, North-East District, Delhi do hereby make this written order prohibiting the carrying of ‘ MASHAL’ i.e. torch carrying live flames or live fire candles or live fire in any form in processions, rallies functions, in the entire area of Sub- Division Seelam Pur of North-East District, Delhi.

4. This order shall come into force with effect from 11-10-2010 and shall remain in force for a period of fifteen days i.e. upto 25-10-2010 (both days inclusive) unless withdrawn earlier.

5. Any person contravening this order shall be punishable under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code.

6. As the notice cannot be served individually on all concerned, the order is passed ex-parte. It shall be published for the information of the public through the press and by affixing copies on the notice boards of the offices of all the Distt. DCsP, Addl, DCsP /ACsP, Tehsil Offices, all police Stations concerned and the offices of the NDMC and MCD of Delhi.

Whereas a large numbers of complaints are being received that people purchasing liquor vends often start consuming in front of liquor vend and at other people places. Venders selling eatable and juices at time also station themselves unauthorizedly outside liquor vends which further facilitate this undesirable activity. At times, Baratis accompany Barats at also openly drink liquor etc., on the Roads while the Barats are moving. Drinking in public is a nuisance with a serious potential to result in brawls and quarrels causing serious injuries/death and damage to public and private property. This affects the peace and tranquility of the area and citrates problems in maintaining law and order. It is also a punishable offence u/s 68 of Punjab Excise Act-1914 (As extended to Delhi).
