Bootlegger arrested :- Civil Line police arrested one bootlegger Pushpa, 42 years old R/o Majnu-ka-Tilla while she was allegedly carrying illicit liquor yesterday. According to DCP/North office, acting on a tip off she was apprehended from near the main road of Manju-ka-Tilla and recovered 11 bottles of illicit liquor from her possession.

Two burglars arrested :- Sarai Rohilla police arrested two burglars namely Firoz Khan, 18 years and Mohd. Irshad, 19 years both resident of Jhuggi Jakhira yesterday. According to DCP/North office, both accused were caught red handed while they were trying to steal cash box containing Rs. 2000/- from the shop of one Gulam Gosh at Sarai Rohilla. Gulam Gosh raised an alarm on which they were caught by passersby.

Public help is sought in identifying the bodies :- New Delhi Railway police have sought public help in identifying the following bodies :-

  1. A male, aged around 70 years, Ht. 5’5”, long face, wheatish complexion, thin built, wearing white kurta and white payjama, found on 7.11.07.
  2. A male, aged around 65/70 years, Ht. 5’6”, long face, wheatish complexion, thin built wearing white kurta, white dhoti & green T-shirt, found on 7.11.07.
  3. A male, aged around 60 years, Ht. 5’7”, long face, fair complexion, thin built, wearing khaki pants and white shirt, found 12.11.07.
  4. A female, aged around 40 years, Ht. 5’, round face, sallow complexion, thin built, wearing yellow printed saree & red blouse, found on 9.11.07.
  5. A male, aged around 70/72 years, Ht. 5’6”, long face, sallow complexion, thin built, wearing two shirt one blue & one green and grey jacket, found on 7.11.07.
  6. A male, aged around 40/45 years, Ht. 5’5”, sallow complexion, long face, thin built, wearing payjama and kurta, found on 5.11.07.
  7. A male, aged around 40 years, Ht. 5’5”, round face, wheatish complexion, strong built, found on 29.10.07.
  8. A male, aged around 30/32 years, Ht. 5’8”, long face, wheatish complexion, thin built, wearing black pants and red T-shirt, found on 4.11.07.
  9. A male, aged around 25/26 years, Ht. 5’6”, round face, sallow complexion, thin built, found on 4.11.07.

Railway Main Delhi police have sought public help in identifying the following bodies :-

  1. A male, aged around 70/75 years, Ht. 5’6”, black complexion, thin built, long face, wearing white striped and dark green shirt, found on 8.11.07.
  2. A male, aged around 55/60 years, Ht. 5’7”, sallow complexion, long face, thin built, wearing blue shirt and checkdar lungi, found on 8.11.07.
  3. A male, aged around 35/40 years, Ht. 5’6”, sallow complexion, long face, thin built, wearing checkdar shirt and pants, found on 12.11.07.
  4. A male, aged around 40/45 years, Ht. 5’6”, wheatish complexion, long face, found on 8.11.07.
  5. A male, aged around 45/50 years, Ht. 5’6”, wheatish complexion, long face, thin built, found on 4.11.07.
  6. A male, aged around 30/35 years, Ht. 5’5”, sallow complexion, long face, thin built, found on 5.11.07.

DELHI TRAFFIC POLICE

CHATT PUJA CELEBRATION 2007

Chatt Pooja will be celebrated in a grand scale in the N.C.T. commencing on 16th November evening at 1500 hrs and terminating on 17th November morning around 0900 hrs. The main venues will be at all the important Ghats of river Yamuna and devotees of Sun God will start converging from various places from the afternoon of 16th November and traditional Pooja will be performed during the sunset and during the sunrise on next day. Some of the people will remain on the riverbed throughout the night, where celebrations followed by cultural activities will reverberate throughout the night. On the river Yamuna itself the gathering is expected to be about a million. The Pooja devotees will be arriving at their designated sites by using various modes of transport, such as tempos, cycles, rickshaws, TSRs trucks and buses.

Normal flow of traffic will be affected from the afternoon evening of 16th November and on the morning of 17th November 2007.

There will be a heavy flow of traffic on all Yamuna bridges beginning from Wazirabad, ISBT, Old Yamuna, ITO, Nizamuddin and Kalindi. All roads of Delhi will be affected by flow of additional traffic generated by Chatt enthusiasts. NH-1 will be affected at Mukarba, Bhalswa, Mukundpur, Burari, Jagatpur, Wazirabad, Chandagi Ram Akhara, I.S.B.T. NH-2 will be affected between Rajghat, Ashram Chowk and upto Badarpur Border. Roads in the East and Wazirabad Road, GT Road, Vikas Marg. NH-2, NH-10 Najafgarh Road will have traffic problems resulting in slow down of normal flow of traffic.

Road users are advised to avoid the roads on which the major Ghats/Chatt Sites are located from 1400 hrs on 16th Nov. to 1000 hrs on 17th November. Commuters must plan their journey well in advance so that they do not encounter any inconvenience on the road.

The daily commuters are advised in their own interest to make maximum use of public transport and specially Delhi Metro. Car-pooling must be resorted in order to reduce the movement of number of vehicles on the roads of Delhi. Restrictions on movement of commercial vehicles will be imposed on major interstate road passages. Adequate traffic arrangements have been planned to ensure proper movement of devotees and keep the general flow of traffic normal as far as possible.
