Concerning theService

AtleastoneofthepartiesmustbeabaptizedChristian;theceremonymustbeattestedbyatleasttwo witnesses; andthemarriage mustconform tothe lawsof the State.

ApriestorabishopnormallypresidesattheCelebrationandBlessingofaMarriage,becausesuchministers alone have the functionofpronouncingthe nuptial blessing, andofcelebratingthe HolyEucharist.

Whenbothabishopandapriestarepresentandofficiating,thebishopshouldpronouncetheblessingand preside at theEucharist.

Adeacon,oranassistingpriest,maydeliverthecharge,askfortheDeclarationofConsent,readtheGospel, andperform otherassistingfunctionsat theEucharist.
