President’s Council on Diversity Charge

I am asking the Council to examine the University’s existing diversity and inclusion efforts and to work on achieving the following goals:

1)Develop a road map for our University and sustain an environment that affirms and embraces therich diversity of our students, faculty and staff.

2)Recommend appropriate administrative structures, policies, and initiatives to support and, where possible, enhance already existing diversity and inclusion efforts.

3)Generate innovative ideas that will help achieve our University’s key strategic goals.

The ultimate outcome of this Council’s work is to determine how best to promote good relationships betweenpeople of diverse backgrounds and to foster equality of opportunity for all members of our Universitycommunity. If all members of our University are fully invested in an environment that encourages everyone toreach his or her full potential, this commitment will strengthen our University’s academic and research missionand provide the high-quality education that all our students deserve.
