Many thanks to our guest speaker, Ms Teagan Boughton, current WSSS U19 Coach, for sharing her netball experiences and knowledge with us. BNC is also grateful to Jim Porter and those who assisted him to ensure the evening ‘ran smoothly’.

Match Reports
U13 Section 1 – Bayside def by Valley - 18-21
We lost to a very strong, tall team. We were missing two of our key position players, so it made it tough from the start as the girls had to play out of position. In saying this, with two minutes to go, the game was drawn and it only just slipped out of our hands. Every player gave it everything and I can't be more proud of them. They are an amazing group of girls. I'm a lucky coach!
U13 Section 3 – Bayside - Bye
U13 Section 6 – Bayside def by Prahran - 9-19
Coach unavailable for comment.
U15 Section 1 – Bayside def by Whitehorse Emerald - 30-45
As much as the girls tried, our turnovers were costly and a bad start meant we were not able to get back into the contest eventually going down by 15 goals.
U15 Section 3 – Bayside def by Gippsland Storm - 16-18
Tough game in horrid conditions. Good effort!
U15 Section 4 – Bayside def by Melbourne Waverley - 29-30
Just came up short against a finalist team from last season. With only one defender on the night Izzy stood up really well and gave 100% effort and really worked hard for her team. A few wayward passes and small errors turned the ball over at crucial parts of the fourth quarter. Still working on fluency in goals but much improved from last week. A really good learning game for the girls.
U15 Section 5 – Bayside def Eastern United - 30-23
Coach unavailable for comment.
U17 Waverley Prem. Section 1 (Wed. night) – Bayside defBoroondara - 44-36
What in the end was a good win for the girls, we didn't put out a full four quarter effort, and the big lead we had for most of the game, fell in the last quarter. With a few funny calls by the umpires and some rough play from the opposition, the team seemed to lose focus! But there was some great individual performances and I'm glad we were able to hold the score and play it out to win. Good things to work on at training and lessons learnt for future games!
U17 Waverley Prem. Section 2 (Wed. night) – Bayside def Eastern United - 43-34
Girls battled hard all night against a very physical opponent. The goalers had a tough ask against very tall defenders but played with poise and precision. The mid court did their job well and transition was much improved from last week. Key intercepts from defenders kept us in the game.
U17 Parkville Division 1 – Bayside def PV Comets - 35-23
A good win by the girls. We had some early success with our centre pass defence we had worked on on Sunday which was great to see. Shooting averages were right up there and we gained a lot of turnover ball, sadly not all of which we converted.
U17 Parkville Division 2 – Bayside def VU Vultures - 41-14
The girls had a great win on Tuesday night. We moved the ball much better down the court and our passing into the goal circle was exceptional. Thanks to Dom for filling in!
Open Division 1 – Bayside def St Therese’s Pride (by forfeit) – easy win
Open Division 2 – Bayside def by St Therese’s - 24-30
Div 2 played St Therese also and went down by six goals. Despite patches of brilliant play, we couldn't get on top. Losing each quarter by one or two goals showed we were competitive, but a lack of intensity saw us unable to close out quarters. Tara Bickham was amazingly accurate as GS (100%!) and defenders battled well against two six foot shooters.
Open Division 3 – Bayside def by St Therese’s - 23-30
First half we struggled to create shooting opportunities whilst our opponents barely missed. Second half was much better and we won it by a goal. Plenty to work on at training.
Open Division 4 – Bayside def by St Therese’s - 42-30
There were nice passages of play, however I think our few weeks off showed. Preliminary movements and pro-active defence are going to be important in games to come. We have lots to improve on, but when we bring our A game will be able to match it with any team. Looking forward to the season ahead!
Go Bayside!
