Speaking personality / The speaker mumbles or otherwise fails to convey his thoughts effectively. The speaker is clearly uncomfortable, or fidgety in a distracting way. The target speaking time is minimally adhered to. / The speaker speaks too quietly, or reads from the screen without facing the audience. The pointer dances relentlessly about the screen without adding value to the presentation. / The speaker can be understood and the presentation concludes within 15% of the established time. / The speaker is understandable, generally faces the audience, and is free of distracting mannerisms. The presentation concludes within 10% of the established time. / The speaker annunciates clearly, makes good eye contact with the audience, and does not exhibit distracting mannerisms. The presentation is engaging and lively, yet professional. Gestures and pointing contribute to understanding without being distracting. The presentation concludes at the established time, within 10%.
Presentation Aids / The presentation graphics contain only bullet points or pictures that do not significantly relate to the discussion. / Presentation aids contain little more than bullet points. Figures, if used, do not convey information pertinent to the discussion topic. Or, graphics may be hard to read, having too much detail. / Presentation graphics contain meaningful content. A few figures augment bullets to convey essential thoughts. The slides can be comprehended by the audience in the allotted time. / Presentation aids contain a suitable level of detail, can be easily read by the audience, and are appropriate in number. Technical points are usually correct, although the speaker might not convince the audience that he or she actually understands the subject in detail. / The speaker conveys a sense of authority on the subjects presented, and the speaker's own contributions are clearly distinguished. / Presentation is "meaty" and technically accurate. Technical terms are used precisely. Speaker clearly understands the subject matter. The contributions of the speaker to the team's technical progress can be accurately assessed.
