HLC Committee Report

·  We will have our second annual Summer Symposium: Countdown to Reaccreditation, July 20th in the PV Education Center from 8:30 to noon.

o  Current Program: Bob Mundhenk as keynote, Flash Five Assessment Reports (5 slides in 5 minutes), Noel-Levitz Student Satisfaction Results

Survey Reports

Noel Levitz Survey of Student Satisfaction

·  The Noel-Levitz online Student Satisfaction Inventory invitation was emailed out to all students on March 19th. The methodology was changed to allow all students the ability to participate. Originally a random sample of student was going to be asked.

·  We have had a good response with over 1200 students completing the survey. Our goal is 2000 by April 20th.

·  A communication plan was created and consists of the following to get the word out to students: BB notice, Insider article, myMCCKC announcement, Facebook and twitter feeds, and a request of faculty through the division chairs to encourage participation in their classes.

·  An incentive plan was developed to increase participation rates. All students who complete the inventory will be entered into a drawing to win one of 15 MCC $25 bookstore gift cards. A reminder was sent to those students who have not completed the survey. A final reminder will go out at a later date as determined by the current response rate.

Cass County Survey

Tammie May has been working with Melissa and Kristy to write a survey for students to evaluate their experience at MCC-Cass County. The survey will be administered to all classes held at MCC-Cass County this spring.

MCC Open Pathway Improvement Project Report

The 2nd Cohort met on 3/23/12 at BTC CA 104A. The disciplines determined which attribute they wanted to assess and talked about implementation of the assessment. They will be completing the 1st report to present at the next DACC meeting, 5-10-2012.

Second Cohort meetings

The next meeting of the 2nd Cohort will be 4/13/12 at MW CC 110 (Arbor Room). They will prepare their 1st Reports to present at the DACC Meeting on 5/10/12. The 2nd Cohort includes Chemistry, Geology/Geography, History, Philosophy, Psychology, and Sociology/Anthropology.

First Cohort

The 1st Cohort is administering assessments this semester. Encourage and support them and invite them to help mentor the 2nd Cohort. The 1st cohort will present what they are doing at the Summer Symposium: Countdown to Re-accreditation on July 20th, 2012 at the PV Education Center.

Deliverables for Improvement Project

Kristy Bishop discussed what items we need to prepare for HLC. HLC will want to see the documentation of our progress. The following will be looked at:

·  Planning meetings-our first semester planning meetings, discipline specific meetings this fall to discuss what the data from their assessment means and plan next steps

·  Reports- reports from the 1st Cohort, individual discipline reports, second and third semester reports

·  Charts and resources used-Gen Ed attributes, chosen rubrics, aggregate data from assessments, cohort notebooks, training materials, and communication efforts

·  Culture of Assessment Survey-Overview of methodology and results

Blackboard Organization for Disciplines

All DACC Members, all 1st Cohort faculty, and the full-time faculty in the 2nd Cohort have been added to the BB Organization. Part of the adjunct and dual credit faculty for the 2nd cohort has been added. Membership will be updated after board approval of MCC retirees.

Higher Learning Commission Update

·  The current version of the Assurance Criteria revisions is available http://www.ncahlc.org/.

·  A group of MCC representatives attended the Annual NCA/HLC Conference. Cynthia, Kristy, and Tristan presented; Moving from a Data Driven to a Knowledge Driven Institution. Here is the link to the HLC presentation: http://annualconference.ncahlc.org/2012-session-handouts.html. It can be found toward the bottom under General Program Sunday at 2:15.

·  It was well received. They are continuing their collection of oral history about MCC.

·  HLC is starting to look at Dual Credit and possible accreditation.

Human Diversity

Next Human Diversity Assessment Meeting is on 4/6/12 at 1:00 pm in AC 263.

Service Learning Assessment

The service learning group has been giving a pre and post-test survey for the past 4 semesters. Data is analyzed and a report is being written. The group has decided to develop Student Learning outcomes for Service Learning. A rubric is being developed to use for the SLO’s this fall.

Campus Reports

·  BR-The group is in a holding pattern. They are reviewing the GRIT inventory survey preliminary results and are awaiting final semester data analysis.

·  BTC- The group is still forming.

·  LV-They met at the end of March. Tammie discussed a new initiative with the Independence School District.

·  MW-The hybrid Curriculum and Assessment committee met Monday and discussed Vet tech curriculum. No new items were introduced.

·  PV-hasn’t met.

Old Business

·  MCC is hosting the 2nd annual Regional Community College Assessment Conference on April 20, 2012 at MCC-Penn Valley, Education Center. There are 32 registrants from MCC and 75 from 21 other institutions.

o  The MCC conference website (http://mcckc.edu/RCCAConference) is complete.

o  Melissa and Kristy are arranging a welcome social at the hotel the evening of the 19th for traveling conference attendees.

o  We are working with several vendors who have indicated interest in sponsorship. we are There are 4 vendors registered currently.
