1. CALL TO ORDER AND PLEDGE:

At 3:00pm Chair Bruce Wiseman called the Port of Ridgefield Commission meeting to order and led the Pledge of Allegiance.

2. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES AND ADDITIONS TO THE AGENDA:

June 14, 2017: Commissioner Joe Melroy made a motion to approve the meeting minutes as presented. Commissioner Scott Hughes seconded the motion. The motion was carried.

3. CALENDAR AND CORRESPONDENCE:

Ridgefield Main Street Educational Event: This event is Tonight at 5:30pm at the Liberty Theater.

Legislative Review Luncheon: The luncheon is Wednesday, July 19 at 11:30am at the Royal Oaks Country Club.

WDFW Grand Opening: There will be an Open House hosted by the Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife Regional Headquarters on Wednesday, July 26 at 1:00pm.

APEX: The Port’s Annual Planning Expedition Meeting is Thursday, August 17 at the WDFW new facility in the Conference Center.

Port of Kennewick Letter: The Commission are sending a “thank-you” letter to the Port of Kennewick Commissioner Skip Novakovich for taking the time to meet with the Port of Ridgefield and Ridgefield City Council last week. This was an excellent tour well spent with the Port of Kennewick.

4. PUBLIC COMMENT

Roy Garrison thanked the Port for inviting Johan Hellman from BNSF to do the presentation on Railroad Safety.

Councilwoman Sandra Day thanked the Port for inviting the Ridgefield City Council to participate on the Port of Kennewick tour.

Councilwoman Day also thanked the Port for the use of Port property to have safe fireworks for the public on July 4th. She mentioned if personal fireworks are used on Port property, law enforcement will need to be notified immediately. Brent Grening stated Personal Fireworks are not allowed on Port property.

La Center City Councilman Joe Valenzuela stated the Association of Washington Cities meeting last week was very good. He mentioned there were many topics discussed relating to economic development.

5. FINANCE:

Cash Graph: Jeanette Ludka stated the weekly cash graph is in the Commissioner’s dropbox.

May Finance Report: Jeanette Ludka stated the May 2017 Dashboard and the May 2017 Budget versus Actual reports are in the dropbox and offered to answer any questions.

6. REPORTS AND BUSINESS

Executive

Fireworks: Brent Grening stated there will be “No Personal Fireworks” signage posted throughout Port property effective today.

Councilwoman Sandra Day stated the fireworks that are displayed by the city of Ridgefield are commercial grade and will be displayed under the direction of a licensed professional. The city of Ridgefield Police and Fire Department will be on the property.

Brent stated the Port is named on the insurance policy for the city of Ridgefield. The day of the July 4th Parade, parking is available north of Division Street on Port property.

Commercial & Office Projects Tour Update: Brent Grening presented a showcase of the properties the Port and the City toured on June 19 & 20. He stated the Port is looking to develop in the future the Port’s property on 45th and Pioneer Street.

Corwin Trail Update: Brent Grening met with the folks at Corwin Beverage yesterday at the city of Ridgefield pre-application meeting. He invited Corwin to present their plans at the July 12 Port Commission meeting.

Operations

WDFW Project Update: Laurie Olin stated the agency will be moving in furniture on Monday, July 3. The official date for business is July 5.

Off-Property Phase 2 Project: Laurie Olin stated the project is going well, the Port cleaned 21 yards last year. This year’s project consists of 8 yards. The project should be completed by mid-August.

Innovation

Legislative update: Nelson Holmberg stated today Governor Inslee is moving closer to signing the state budget. Bills Senate 5679 and House 1702 are still in existence.

Commission

Commissioner Melroy spoke of upgrading the Port’s trailer by purchasing a used but in very good condition 30ft. trailer that will be used in various Port and City events. Commissioner Melroy presented two that are $3,000 each.

7. PUBLIC AGENCY COMMENT:

8. PUBLIC COMMENT:

Allene Wodaege thanked the Port for donating the bench in her honor at the May 15 Port Commission meeting. She loves the outdoors and stated others will appreciate admiring the beautiful view of the Port’s waterfront.

Dave Kelly stated his Son–in-law will do a F-15 Fly over at the start of the Ridgefield July 4th Parade.

9. ADJOURNMENT:

The regular meeting adjourned at 4:29pm with no further comments or business. The next regular Commission meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at 3:00pm. This meeting will be held at the Port Offices located at 111 West Division Ridgefield.
