CourseDescription:IntroductiontoAnimationand3DDesignisafoundationscoursethatservesasanintroductiontotheanimationand3Ddesignindustry.Emphasisisplacedoncareerawareness,fundamentalsofmodeling,storyboardcreation,camerasandlighting.Studentswilllearnhow3Dtechnologyisusedforfilm,broadcastandgamesandhowitisrapidlybecomingthemediumofchoiceforindustrialdesign,militarysimulations,andmedicalvisualization.ThestandardsarealignedwiththeinteractivemediastandardsinGeorgia’stechnicalcolleges,thushelpingtoqualifystudentsforadvancedplacementshouldtheycontinuetheireducationatthepostsecondarylevel.Competenciesfortheco-curricularstudentorganization,FutureBusinessLeadersofAmerica(FBLA),areintegralcomponentsofboththecoreemployabilityskillsstandardsandthetechnicalskillsstandards,andFBLAactivitiesshouldbeincorporatedthroughoutinstructionalstrategiesdevelopedforthecourse.Dailyuseoftheclasswebsitealongwithschoolserverwillbeusedtoaccessandstoreclassassignments.
Textbook:Noofficialtextbookwillbeusedforthiscourse.Supplementalandresourcematerialwillbeprovided.
Software:PhotoShop,Flash,Corel3D,andVariousfreedownloadableand/orbrowser-basedsoftwarewillbeutilizedthroughoutthecoursetoallowstudentstotransferskillsinclasstoapplicationsoutsideofclassroom.
FutureBusinessLeadersofAmerica(FBLA).FBLAisaco-curricularstudentorganizationinBusinessthatpromotesleadership,careerplanning,communityservice,andsocialnetworking.Membershipisstronglyencouragedforallstudentsenrolledinthiscourse.Duesare$15forlocal,state,nationalmembership.

InternetUsageinClassSetting:Inordertoenhancestudentlearning,studentswillusetheInternetdailyasaresourcetoolforthisclass.Whileinabusinesslab,studentswillcomplywithallPolkCountySchoolsguidelines.Failuretofollowcountymandatedguidelineswouldresultinpunishmentthatrangesfromlossofprivilegestoadministrativereferral.AllstudentsandparentsarerequiredtosignacknowledgementofInternetguidelinespriortoastudentusingtheInternet.Studentsshouldnotplay“games”orwatch“videos”online.
