"Preparing For Leadership"

Rotary - What would it take to change the world? Rotary's 1.2 million members believe it starts with a commitment to Service Above Self. Partnering with Lake Placid Rotary, Paul Smith's Collegeis a college where students engage in an active learning environment, with an interdisciplinary core curriculum and undergraduate programs in forestry, natural resources, and recreation, hospitality resort, and culinary management, and the sciences, liberal arts, and business.

Partnering with Lake Placid Rotary,The Wild Center is a the natural history museum of the Adirondacks. A unique facility open to the public where history, environment, wildlife and foliage are explained physically and use of state of the art technology all to ignite the passion for the Adirondacks.

"TEAM PROJECTS"

DAY 1 2 June 28 - 29 - At the end of each day we will have teams breakout and review and discuss what they felt was new, interesting and important to them as person or student today or in the future.

TEAMEach team may appoint a spokesperson(s)to give a 5 minutes on the team's discussion.

The following is an example of a brief report - i.e."we thought the session on ___ could have been longer and we all got something out of___ and some really enjoyed____session. Some team members volunteered they will further research___ and will use____. This _____ session left unanswered questions....

DAY 3 June 30 - Summary - Each team will discuss and prepare a verbal 5-minute report summarizing what they thought were the most important lessons and experiences they as a team, and/or individually got out of participating in this RYLA.

INDIVIDUALHome Project - Each individual will also start thinking about what project they may get involved in that would involve something that requires thought, effort, personal motivation or something they learned at RYLA that could include community work, school activity, home project, etc. This could be mentioned in the Day 3 report.

Upon your return to your district your local Rotary Club will invite you to give them a report on your experience and possible project.
