Course Description:
Presents a set of powerful tools to ensure students' understanding of the strategies, tactics, and operational endeavors CIO's employ to assimilate technologies across the firm
Course Objectives:
- Prepares students for the challenge of integrating the technology resource.
- Help in understanding the industry today, one must understand the ways companies align, partner, and communicate through technology to grow their business.
Course Outcome:
Upon the completion of the course students will bb aware of the following:
- Responsibilities and challenges faced by the CIO and senior IT management in today’s dynamic business environment.
- The creation of effective IT strategies and the importance of creating an aligned IT strategy for competitive advantage
- The role of the Chief Information Officer in the organization and the key characteristics of an effective CIO
- The fundamental processes performed by IT and strategic layer, tactical layer, and operational layer of IT processes
- The levels of IT planning and the implications of each level

Exams:
There will be four exams during the semester. Each exam will cover approximately 25% of the material for the class. Exams are not normally cumulative;however, some material will naturally be found in several exams.The exams will consist of true/false, multiple choice, matching and short-answer type questions. If you are unable to take any of the exams for any reason, make-up exam(s) will be offered on arranged appointment. The make-up exams will consist of questions generated automatically from the lecturers. Please neither note that there will not be any exams given early, nor any other time allotted for make-upexams.
Assignments:
To illustrate concepts in class, we will be doing one assignments throughoutthe semester.
Make-Up and LatePolicy:
All assignments that are handed in late will be docked 10% per day that theyare late, unless arrangements have been made at least 24 hours before the due date. The term LATE refers to all assignments turned in after the class time on the assignment's duedate.
ClassParticipation:
This is an arbitrary decision by the instructor based on student participationand attendance.
GradingOpportunities:
The student is required to take notice of where he stands in regards to their performance and attendance in this class. If special needs arise, or there is a problem with the student’s attendance, or grade, the student is responsible for contacting the professor to discuss those concerns; in as timely a manner is as reasonable. Students may contact professor by any of the methods listed. A student’s grade totally depends on what he has achieved during the course: the grades will be earned, notgiven.
