Activities on Capacity Development / Observations/

Irrigated fodder
In West Gojjam, coaching and mentoring was done on seven farmers on fodder developments on in Mecha and Bahir Dar zuria. Coaching and mentoring on fruit development was done at Bahir Dar (Mango M3), Yilmanadensa (Apple M-6, F-1) and Mecha (Avocado M-4,F-2).
In South Wollo, Nine irrigable fodder producers (2F) were coached on propagation methods of Napier and Bracheria grasses at kalu district Gerba PA.
Dairy
In South Wollo, coaching and mentoring on Hygienic milk production, record keeping, housing & health care, feeds and feeding management of dairy cows & calf, health care & housing was under taken in two round on a total of 11 male and 2 female Public staff and 7 male and 4 female private actors.
Apiculture:
Coaching and mentoring undertaken on 14 male and 5 female farmers and 6 male and 1 female public staff on colony splitting, bee forge development, dearth period feeding, and hive inspection at Tekake and Harbu.
Small Ruminant
Coaching and mentoring undertaken on Animal identification, record keeping, planned lambing & health care for 18 male and 8 female farmers while same coaching provided to 1 male and 2 female public staff at Dessie Zuria.
Vegetable production.
11 male and 4 Female farmers were coached and mentored on vegetable seed bed preparation and propagation methods at Kalu district Tekake PA. And also, 3 development workers(1F) were coached.
Fruit production
Coaching on fruit tree pruning, pest & disease management, irrigation methods & soil nutrient management was provided for 6 male and 2 female GO staff and propagation techniques for 2 male and 1 female at Godguadit PA held.
Activities on Knowledge Management
In South Wollo, experience sharing season was arranged for 6 farmers (all male) from Tehuleder district (Bededo and Hitecha PA) at highland fruit producer and suppliers to acquire knowledge of high land fruit management, planting /layering of rootstock and grafting method. As a result farmers have acquired skill to manage their own high land fruit farm and agreed to share their knowledge to other farmers within the PAs. Besides, on average 25 extension workers (5 F) have used in each of the knowledge centers.

Value chain development
Dairy
· In West Gojjam, Cow mats were distributed for one farmer at Yilmanadensa for demonstration purpose.

Irrigated vegetables
· In West Gojjam, 7 participant farmers were selected for the purpose of introducing and demonstrating of onion, Tomato, and cabbage at Enguti kebele of Mecha district.
· In South Wollo, 10 Kg of Mung been provided to Haik Gedam and sown on 3000 sq m. of plot. It has been note that the vegetable seed were purchased and some of the seeds are not sown due to the coverage of irrigable lands with Meher crops. But the seed bed is prepared for sowing and in this regard 15 farmers at three PAs of Tehuledere (Godiguadit, Gobeya and Jari) prepared and sown at seed bed, while at kalu 12 farmers at Woraba and Tekakie PAs prepared the same seed bed for Onion, Cabbage and Tomato. The vegetable like Onion red criole and red Bombay (1000gm), Tomato (750gm), Cauliflower (300gm), Carrot(1000gm), Sweet paper (300gm) and Cucumber (200gm) were purchased and prepared for sowing at seed bed.
Fruit
· Establishing legalized grafted seedling producer groups in Mecha district with 38 members (M-36, F-2)
· In the previous reporting month a total of 250 high land fruit that comprises three varieties of Apple (Anna,BR and Jenagord) ,Peer and Plum procured and distributed to three PAs of Dessie Zuria (gerado, Abasso and Hara Webello) in this regard 12 farmers all male have planted the three variety of Apple, Peer and Plum. While at Tehuledere, the high land fruit was planted at two PAs (Hitecha and Bededo) on 8 famers plot. The farmers at Tehuledere applied the knowledge being shared from Ketetaye farmer who shared them his experiences while planting the grafted seedling. In line with this, a total of 300 root stock peer and Apple root stock (150 Queen of Peer and MM106 of apple) planted/layered at the above mentioned farmers plots and at I nursery of Dessie Zuria (Gelsha PA).
· In the previous month it was not mentioned that a total of 24 (3F) farmers planted Papaye seedlings at the lake shore of Logo Haik/ Godiguadit PA.
Small ruminant
· Deworming of 120 sheep and 200 goats was provided with Albendazol. Weighting of kids was under taken on 20 sheep and 28 goats and grading and selection was undertaken accordingly.
· Application green manure was done on 2500 Sq m plot of five farmers targeted under community based breeding program at Tita kebele of Dessie Zuria PA.
Irrigable fodder
· In South Wollo, 30 Kg of oats and 10 kg of vetch distributed to Bededo PA for dairy farmers and model trained women farmers. The practice of feeding improved forage has shown on most of the targeted farmers and the productivity of milk has shown a significant increment.
Research and Documentation:
In south Wollo, documentation and alignment of the project plan of LIVES with the three districts of South Wello is under progress for the purpose of scaling out and sustainability.
