Preparation for the Performance Task Group Multimedia Presentation

Please complete numbers I-III as a group, handwritten on two sheets of paper; may use front and back. This will serve as your planning.

I] Please choose one of the following prompts and create a focused and narrow answer (claim).

The Seven Thematic Questions

1)What causes alienation and how do we address or react to alienation?

2)What leads to our social and moral development?

3)How do we define “justice” and how do we search for it?

4)How do our surroundings shape our moral and psychological development?

5)How do our desires both propel and obstruct our development?

6)What are some of the ways our illusions or misconceptions about ourselves or our societyare shattered?

7)What are some of the potentially dangerous political and social issues that we face, and how do we confront these issues?

II] Chose an organization now:

ARGUMENT: Create a t-chart which lists reasons for your claim on the left and lists the counterarguments on the right and jot down the works for each in the margins next to the points. Work with a partner to debate and play devil’s advocate to generate ideas.

OR

INFORMATIVE: Create a t-chart which lists 3-4 reasons for your central idea on the left and works that support those ideas on the right.

III] Next, choose at least 1 work from each of the Required Works List #1-4 below AND write the title of the work on one side and general ideas notes and textual evidence of how you would use this work in your defense—either as an example or a non-example. That is a total of at least four supporting texts with textual evidence in your presentation.

IV] Lastly, look over pages 157-160 in your text to review the process of preparation. Also refer to notes on multi-media presentations on my website. We will discuss and practice successful presentationsusing the AP Seminar requirements.

Group Multimedia Presentation Requirements

Objective: Your group must prove its claim by synthesizing required texts or sources within a multimedia presentation consisting of at least three different mediums.

Presentation Requirements:

 Your presentation must include all group members equally in some fashion. Use the aptitudes to designate responsibilities. Exchange contact information and work as a team. Be prepared.

 Your presentation must have a clear and thought-provoking opener and conclusion which defends your claim in a memorable way.

 Your presentation must have a logical and seamless progression with smooth transitions.

 Your presentation must provide thorough and consistent evidence for your claim using the required texts and additional sources. You may add extras after you have ensured the required elements are in there.

 Your presentation must use formal and appropriate language and clear terminology.

 Your presentation must be error free.

 Your presentation must include a Works Cited page citing all sources in proper MLA format.
