Technical Rider for Radiohole Is Still My Name by Radiohole

Appendix 1

General Description

Radiohole Is Still My Name is a high energy, high impact and yet intimate performance piece created and first performed in the informal environment of our small studio in Brooklyn. We believe the atmosphere of our studio contributes greatly to our audience’sexperience and so we make every effort to approximate our studio both technically and “atmospherically” in touring this work.

The set is based on a truss structure, anchored to the floor that supports lighting, sound and scenic materials and forms a proscenium opening of 5.2m wide x 3.07 high. Because of this, audience rows should not be much more than 6m wide. The back row should have a clear view of the performing area to a depth of 7m. Behind the truss are six panels, three left and three right, that form “wings”. Each panel is suspended between floor and grid on heavy springs anchored to the floor and the grid (or ceiling, if appropriate). Performers slam into these panels and bounce off of them, therefore they must be firmly anchored to the floor and grid above. The grid above must be solidly constructed and rigid. Upstage is a two dimensional wooden bull that must be anchored to the floor. The floor in the hosting venue should be a level wood floor with a clear polyurethane natural wood finish. It will be necessary to firmly anchor the set to the host venue floor either with lag bolts, or in the case of a cement sub-floor, expansion anchors.

Provided all conditions at the host venue meet conditions specified in this technical rider at the beginning of the first day of load-in, the company requires a minimum two days for set-up and rehearsals with first performance on the evening of the second day. The first stop of a tour will require a minimum of one extra day for additional rehearsal, therefore first performance would be on the evening of the 3rd day.

We travel with all our own scenic, lighting and audio equipment, however, it may be necessary to augment Radiohole’s package with equipment provided by presenter.

This will be addressed in further detail below.

Upon receipt of this document please send accurate, scale drawings of venue in plan and section as well as equipment lists and any other relevant technical information to:

• It may be necessary for presenter to furnish supplemental lighting depending on size and color of the room. This will be decided on a per venue basis by mutual agreement between company and presenter.

• Depending on the venue, Radiohole may request changes to the house lighting more suitable to the production.

• If house lighting is not operable from the stage, it will be necessary for presenter to provide someone to operate house lighting.

In all cases presenter shall provide:

Props/Expendables

There are several expendable food props used in Name. Presenter must provide Radiohole with the following:

• (1) whole roasted chicken per performance.

• (24) pieces of fried chicken per performance. This is sold to audience before and during each performance. Of the (24) pieces, at least (6) must be drumsticks (legs).

• (1) bunch of fresh parsley per performance.

These items are consumed during the performance and must be fresh as of the day of the performance.

It is Radiohole’s custom to give away beer before and during show.

• 3 cases (at 24 cans per case) inexpensive canned beer per performance (This may be reduced to two if audience is 50 persons or less).

• 8 kg. Ice

Special Effects

•During the performance small “party poppers” are used during the show to represent gunshots. These are small plastic containers made to look like a tiny bottle. They are packed with a very small charge, when a string is pulled they make a “pop” sound (not too loud) and small streams of paper come out. These are legal in the U.S. and require no special permits.

• Near the end of the show a “smoke puff” effect is used. This is accomplished with a modified theatrical smoke puff that is lit with a fuse. Any permits/ fire marshals necessary for the use of a smoke puff in the venue is the responsibility of the presenter.

• Please direct questions regarding special effects used in “Name” to Eric Dyer at + +718.388.2251
