Pre-orders for Wildlife Seed Available– First Come, First Served

Belmont SWCD is pleased to offer full-quality, discontinued and slightly outdated seed through a cooperative effort with

Pheasants Forever. The seed in this program will germinate at rates roughly 70 to 90 percent, and is available at reasonable rates. Through Pheasants Forever and the Belmont SWCD, the following seeds are being offered to you on a first-come, firstserved basis. While we may not always receive the type and quantity ordered, the District will do it’s best to fill each order.

Winter Survival Wildlife Mix, which consists of corn, sorghum, sunflower, and buckwheat, is a good source of food for almost all wildlife. The mix provides good cover for game and non-game animals. The mix comes in a 25 lb. bag and plantsapprox. 4-5 acres.

Whitetail Forage Brassica Mix, a forage brassica blend specially designed to produce superior feeding habitat for deer and turkeys. This mixture of annual rape, canola, pasja, kale, and deer turnips is irresistible to whitetails and turkeys. It comes ina 5 lb bag and plants 1 acre, and is best seeded in late summer or early fall.

Grain Sorghum produces bb-sized seeds relished by doves, turkey, grouse, songbirds, rabbit, deer, and squirrel. Sorghumcomes in 50 lb. bags and plants approx. 3-4 acres.

Sunflowers are excellent for doves, songbirds, and waterfowl.It comes in 25 lb. bags and plants roughly 5 acres.

Soybeans are great for deer and rabbits and bugging areas for turkey and grouse. The bean pods are consumed all fall and winter. Soybeans come in 50 lb. bags and plants approx. 1 acre. Contact the office for availability.

Your seed will be available for pick-up on Thursday, April 20 and Friday, April 21, 2017, from 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. at 45420 Roscoe RoadSt. Clairsville, OH43950 (Belmont SWCD building at the New Fairgrounds). Ifyour seed is NOT available, we will notify you. Any seed not picked up on time will be sold.

For your added convenience, a no-till drill and corn planter are available for rent from the SWCD office for $10.00 per acre with a minimum charge of $50.00 per use. Belmont SWCD offers no warranty or guaranteed results due to variations in local handling,planting methods, or weather condition.
