Please review this sheet with your parent(s)/guardian, and sign and return the attached form by Friday, August 14, 2015.

Behavior Expectations

In order for you to succeed, we must establish a classroom environment where you feel safe to learn. We will follow ALLschool rules listed in the student planner, including the “no gum” and “no hats in the classroom” policies. Additionally, it is important that all students abide by the following classroom rules:

  • No talking when the teacher is talking
  • Be in your seat before the tardy bell rings
  • The bell does not dismiss you, the teacher does
  • Raise your hand for permission to speak
  • Raise hand for permission to leave your seat
  • Keep your teacher happy 

You will not be allowed to interfere with another student’s right to learn!!

Consequences:

Positive: Negative:

1. Praise from teacher/peers. 1. Warning

2. Positive learning environment. 2. Intervention

3. Positive phone calls home. 3. 5 minute time out

4. Post card home 4. Written reflection (Bull Pen)

5. Maverick Awards 5. Referral and placement on

Progressive discipline plan

*Repeated or severe disruption will result in an immediate referral*

Materials:

Students will need the following materials every day:

-Math Spiral Notebook

-2 sharpened pencils

-binder with dividers and a section for math

-lined paper

-graph paper

-highlighter

-School Planner

Please let me know if you have a problem obtaining these materials.

Homework:

Homework will be given daily and must be done each and every night. It is critical for your understanding and success that you complete your assignments. You will need time at home each night to finish homework and review notes.

-Homework must be completed in pencil.

-Late homework is limited to 5 times per semester. No other late work will be accepted!

-All work must be shown. Homework with answers only will not receive credit.

Completing homework is NOT an option. Students who do not complete their homework will be assigned consequences such as lunch detention, after school program enrollment, and/or after school detention.

Attendance:

We are covering an immense amount of material this year. It is essential that you do not miss school unless absolutely necessary.

If you are absent, it is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to find out what you missed. You will need to look in our daily record binder and copy any notes as well as get any handouts. You also must schedule make-up tests and quizzes with me. You have the same number of days you were absent to turn in any work and/or make up tests/quizzes.

Grading:

The following grading policy has been determined by our Math Department.

35% Tests and Quizzes

25% Assignments (Homework and Classwork)

25% Notes & Participation (Having all supplies and being actively involved in class)

15% Task (Unit Projects)

Homework and Test Corrections:

If you do not receive full credit on homework, you should correct the problems you missed and re-submit the assignment for full credit. Corrections must be submitted prior to the chapter test for that lesson! Every student can have 100% in homework!

Tests and quizzes may also be corrected to increase scores. This is essential since tests and quizzes are a large portion of your grade!

PARENT HOMEWORK:
Please feel free to share with me what you think I should know about your child. I have over 200 students and your input and insight can help me get to know your child better. It takes a great deal of time for teachers to get to know each student and some students we never really get a chance to connect with. Feel free to use the back of this paper or attach a separate letter if needed. Your time is appreciated, and know that I will read every response no matter how lengthy.
