Note: For all compartments, add comment that a percentage of aspen conversion is expected to other types due to elk browsing. The MO in pine stands may vary from what single species was stated in OI. Remarks card comment will reflect that.

Comp 8 (Rick McDonald)

  • Stand 86 – Remove cutting prescription. Add 3rd limiting factor of poor access. Remove factor of “inadequate due to small acreage.”
  • Stand 4 – Delete current limiting factors. Add limiting factor of small acreage. Add comment: Due to difficult access, acreage may be too small to treat by itself and may be better to treat with stand 2 if possible in ten years.
  • Stands 5, 31 – Add cultural need of “other.”

Comp 36 (Don Mittlestat)

  • Stands 14, 15, 16, 18, 21, 64, 65, 66, 67, 68, 69, 70, 71, 72, 73, 74, 75, 76, 77 -Add comment: Extended rotation stand with big tree management as a goal. Use regeneration holes as a means of natural regeneration.
  • Stand 62 – Add comment: Consider management of adjacent stands to the east.
  • Stand 40 – Add comment: Residual trees being left for structure as well as for regeneration.
  • Stand 63 – Remove cutting prescription. Add limiting factor of 3D, recreation site. Remove the 2003 comment.
  • Stand 81 – Add comment: Leave for structural diversity.
  • Stand 13 – Code as X.
  • Map: Change Shingleton Mill Pathway to Shingle Mill Pathway.

Comp 16 (Rick McDonald)

  • Stands 66, 68, 74 –Add comment: May be included in a hemlock regeneration project that will be occurring in compartment 33, stand 95 to the south.
  • Stands 65, 66, 68 – Add comment: Extend harvest east into Comp 17 to the road.
  • Stand 74 – Add comment: Omit east part of the stand (east of the E-type) from harvest due contents of locked comment.
  • Stand 44 – Add comment: Historic osprey nesting on Cornwall Flooding.
  • Stand 58 – Prescribe red oak scattered planting.

Comp 42 (Don Mittlestat)

  • Stands57, 72 – Delete 2003 comment.
  • Stand 74 – Change comment to: Mark aspen to leave. Add comment: Buffer the bog.
  • Stand 75 – Change comment to: Do not cut oak.
  • Comp 45 Map: In compartment 45 create a new stand that is the continuation of stand 76 in compartment 42 and treat it.
  • Stands 21, 22, 33 – Add comment: Hold for structural diversity.
  • Add road to VAP (Vehicle Access Plan) from Black River Trail to the private 40 at McKinnon’s Bend.
  • Road 117 on VAP should be deleted because, as depicted, it is on private land.

Comp 29 (Rick McDonald)

  • Stand 54 –Prescribe about 40 acres for final harvest in the north part of the stand and form into new stand. Add comment in new stand: Mark ten aspen trees per acre to leave standing or dropped.
  • Stand 51 – Change limiting factor for old growth. Change to Stand Condition 8. Add comment: This is an area that may have never been treated and should be maintained as a Special Conservation Area. Its position in the landscape makes it unique.
