Prayer Points: Contending over the next generation
- have compassion over a generation. Weep over a city, but believe in its healing.
My eyes are spent with weeping; my stomach churns; my bile is poured out to the ground because of the destruction of the daughter of my people, because infants and babies faint in the streets of the city. They cry to their mothers, "Where is bread and wine?" as they faint like a wounded man in the streets of the city, as their life is poured out on their mothers’ bosom. (Lamentations 2:11-12)
And when he drew near and saw the city, he wept over it, (Luke 19:41)
"I weep for the hurt of my people. I am stunned & silent, mute with grief." (Jer 8:21)
NOTE: This weeping was done because there was no answer (Lamentations), and because the time for revelation had not yet come (Luke 19). Although we must have compassion and weep over a generation, we must BELIEVE IN FAITH for a movement of God! The time HAS come! The deliverance IS here! All authority has been given! Pray with expectation!
Eyes to see
v …who they are in Christ.
2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”
v …that Christ has set them free from their past.
John 8:35-36 The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son remains forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.
v …That God would lift the veil over the lost person (revelation) – they would see Jesus as Savior and Lord.
"For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ." 2 Cor 10:3-5
Ears to hear
1 Samuel 3:11 “Then the LORD said to Samuel, ‘Behold, I am about to do a thing in Israel at which the two ears of everyone who hears it will tingle.’”
v …the Gospel – The Good News – The reality of Jesus. That as people speak to this generation whether at school, in homes, or at a youth service, their ears would be opened.
v …the Truth rather than lies
v …Encouragment and Life, rather than ridicule and death
Hearts to soften
Leviticus 26: “If by some chance they soften their hard hearts and make amends for their sin, I'll remember my covenant…and I'll remember the land.”
v For godly people to be in their pathway each day. Just as God put Philip in the pathway of the Ethiopian in Acts 8:26-39).
v For the Holy Spirit to hover over them and protect them.
v That when their heart begins to faint, and want to give up they will call upon the Lord.
“from the end of the earth I call to you when my heart is faint. Lead me to the rock that is higher than I, for you have been my refuge, a strong tower against the enemy.” Psalm 61:2-3
v That there would be a “yes” in their Spirit for Christ.
