PRAYER OF THE FAITHFUL - December 2nd & 3rd

Presider:

As we begin this season of Advent, this period of waiting for the Lord to be born into this world, we lift up our prayers to the One we know will never abandon us. , we cry out, Lord hear our prayer...

Lector:

1.  For the Church, that we might use this time of the holy season of Advent to prepare our hearts for the coming of Christ …

For world leaders, for an increased awareness that all power comes from above ….

For those who feel abandoned and hopeless, that they may know the comfort of God …

For our community, from young to old, that we may appreciate the anticipation that is part of this Advent season…

And for all who seek comfort, that they may find it in God’s healing word; and that God may hear the intentions found in our parish book ...For all this, We pray.

2.

Carmen Vasquez, Julie Theriault, Fred Whelan, Gerry Geddes, Judith King, Susan Colarossi, William Florian, Laura Moore Brown, for whom prayers were requested this week and for all who are ill and all wounded in the service of our country, may they be patient in their suffering and soon come to the fullness of health.... we pray....

3. For those dear to us who have died, whose memories are with us at this time, especially,

Sat. 5:30 pm Giuseppe and Rosa Ianni

Sun. 8:30am John Misievich

10:00am Philip Caffrey

12:30pm Dr. Peter Shacker

Carmen Melendez, Maria Zamora, Grace Johnson, Alma Susana Flavier, Hazel Bardowell who died during the past week…

and all the victims of war and terrorism, that they may rest forever in the embrace of the one true God, we pray....

4. And let us pause now to present our own personal petitions...(PAUSE ....count to 10)...... We are still a nation at war, let us pray for our president, and all our elected officials, the members of our diplomatic corps (core) and all those who serve our country in our uniformed services..... may their efforts for peace and justice be fruitful;..... together, let us raise our voices in a prayer for true and lasting peace......

the words are found on the back cover of the hymnal...

Presider:

Eternal and Ever-present God,
hear our prayers that we offer here today
in humility and love.
Grant them through our Lord Jesus Christ,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God for ever and ever.
