KNES 441/443/445 – PRACTICUM COURSE
Practicum Position Title: Clinical Kinesiologist
# of Positions Available: 5 (one per location)

Centric Health is comprised of over 600 clinicians, associated providers, and clinical support staff including physicians (orthopedic surgeons and other specialists), physiotherapists, occupational therapists, kinesiologists, athletic therapists, chiropractors, psychologists, exercise physiologists, massage therapists and physiotherapy assistants.
Terms Available : Fall, winter and spring terms.
Required Hours: 60-72 hours per term. 5-6 hours/week during fall and winter; 10-12 hours/week during spring term
Specified Schedule: To be determined (Mon-Fri b/w the hours of 7:30 am to 4:00 pm)
Project Duties/Responsibilities:Note: Some of the duties mentioned below are specific to particular clinics. Please discuss your own interests and career goals during interview process.
- Act as a member of an interdisciplinary assessment & treatment team with a physical therapist and occupational therapist and possibly a psychologist, neuropsychologist, physician or vocational specialist.
- Develop and oversee functional/fitness/work simulation programs for individuals who have experienced work related injuries.
- Assist in the functional, work site and vocational assessments as necessary.
- Assist primary therapist who is responsible for creating and sending reports to referral sources, perform regular file charting, regular referral source communication and data collection completion.
- Attend weekly client update sessions with your team, participate in case conferences with referral sources, attend micro meetings with clients and assist in teaching classes as necessary (students should attend at least one meeting throughout the term).
Required Student Qualifications:
- KNES 375 – Tests and Measurements in Kinesiology required
- KNES 479 – Advanced Fitness Appraisal and Exercise Prescription an asset
- Solid knowledge and recall of anatomy/physiology
- Working toward eventual CEP (Certified Exercise Physiology) designation after graduation
