Practice Scenarios for EOCT – PBA (Speaking)

1. Imagine that you and a friend have planned a great trip to Cancun, Mexico.

Your flight was wonderful and you arrive at the airport in Cancun and go directly

to the baggage claim area. You wait for an hour and your bags do not show up. You

go to the airline customer service center they tell you must call a 1-800 number and leave a message in Spanish with the all pertinent information.

You may want to consider answering these questions in a conversational form:

-Formal Greeting

-What is your name?

-What flight number and airline were you on?

-What city and airport did you leave from?

-Who are you travelling with?

-How many bags did you check in and describe them?

-What is your passport number?

-Why are you visiting Mexico?

-Where will you be staying and where can you be reached?

-Formal good-bye/thank you

Remember that: 1. The majority of your verbs must be in the preterite form

2. Check vocabulary sheet for specific regular, irregular verbs and car, gar, zar verbs

3. Use vocabulary from U1E1 primarily

4. Use words to connect ideas (handout)

5. You will have 90 seconds to prepare and 60 seconds to speak

2.You are the President of your High School National Spanish Honor Society. Your school paid all expenses for you and 2 other students to travel to Spain and spend a week immersed in the art and food of the country. Your first duty as President is to speak to the members of the Spanish Honor Society about your experience. Your goal is to inspire these students by speaking about this incredible opportunity you had.

Hola me llamo Ivy Downey. Mi número de pasaporte es 123456789. Volé de Atlanta, Georgia en los Estados Unidos a Cancún, México hoy es el 9 de diciembre. Salimos del aeropuerto Hartsfield Jackson a las 3 de la tarde. El número del vuelo fue 345 de la aerolínea Delta y el número de mi asiento fue D16 un asiento de ventanilla. Vine con mi amiga Kathy Ziolkowski. Hicimos reservaciones en el hotel Hilton de Cancún donde nos vamos a pasar 7 días. Desafortunadamente llegué a buscar mi equipaje y no llegaron en mi vuelo. Tuve exceso de equipaje, 3 maletas grandes azules con flores amarillas. No sé si me llamaron ya pero mi teléfono en el hotel es 7-33-444-555. Estoy muy nerviosa espero que ya encontraron mi equipaje. Por favor llama al hotel pronto con más información.

Hola, estudiantes mi llamo Ivy Downey y soy la presidente de la sociedad de honorEspañola. El año pasado yo viajé a España con dos otras estudiantes. Pasamos una semana maravillosa en Madrid. El viaje fue una experiencia cultural extraordinaria. Pudimos visitar el famoso museo lujoso “El Prado”. Vimos varias exposiciones de arte moderna y antigua. Vimos las pinturas famosas de Velázquez y esculturas de muchos artistas muy talentosos. Comimos comidas nuevas como el flan, las habichuelas coloradas y el pollo asado. Mi bebida favorita fue el batido de fresa que tomé cada día que estuve en Madrid. Recomiendo este viaje fue una momento inolvidable.
