PRACTICE NOTES

Easter is April 1st ~ We will NOT be practicing on Easter Sunday so that we can honor the Reason for the season, enjoy our families and friends, and take the time to remember all of our many blessings.

LONE STAR in APRIL

One of our favorite tournaments is the 3 day Lone Star Classic in Dallas. This event is held in the Convention Center in downtown Dallas. The girls will play 3 days.

This event is so big, that they have split it now into three weekends. KVA has chosen due to coach’s schedules and expenses, to put our teams into only 2 of the weekend choices, thus eliminating the Botter’s traveling to Dallas 3 weekends in a row.

Now for important details ~ Players will be missing ONE day of school to attend this event.

12, 14’s, & 15’s ~ Weekend 1 ~ April 14th-16th (missing school on Monday, the 16th) Fortunately, this is day one of a new grading period, so players should not be missing any testing.

16’s ~ Weekend 2 ~ April 20th-22nd (missing Friday, the 20th

We have a UIL Letter to Principal on our website for you to download and take to the school. You will need to do this at least 2 weeks in advance. From our experience, most schools will work with you, although it will still not be an “excused absence”. Most teachers, if given enough notice, will allow students to turn in work early, so be sure and communicate early with them. There will be thousands of young ladies in Texas who will be missing school that day.

Please make every attempt to get your daughter to this tournament. We do not consider it an optional event. We need the entire team to be present so that we can represent our club to the highest level possible. If money is an issue, please speak with your coach and your team mom. We can try to find her a ride to Dallas, as well as a room to share with another family.

Finally, we will have more information posted soon on our website under the Tournaments page. Maps to hotel and convention center will be posted on our site.

IMPORTANT UNIFORM REMINDER

Most players are doing a great job dressing in their KVA issued gear down to their Asics socks! We are proud of how sharp they look!

The Lone Star tournament is a National Qualifier. That means the rules will be strictly enforced across the board….and this includes uniforms. Make sure your daughter has ALL of her KVA issued regulation gear, including both jerseys ~ blue and black, Asics Spandex with logo, socks, kneepads, etc.

REGIONAL TOURNAMENT~ For those teams that have chosen to extend their season and play in the Regional tournament, Jimmy will email you the final details for payment soon, as well as put info on our website about practices and tournament info.

FINALLY~ This will be the last official “newsletter” for the season. There will be more emails I’m sure, but wanted to take this moment to express how much we appreciate having the opportunity to work with your players. Our coaches have had a blast getting to know their players, and watching them progress both individually, and as a team.

There will be a couple of summer indoor camp opportunities, and an outdoor sand program. We hope you will take advantage of these events to keep your player sharp and ready for their school tryouts. Please watch our website for that info and spread the word. Our summer camps are very up-tempo and popular, so get registered as soon as we get the info up.

God bless you all, and again……thank you!
