Powell Butte Christian Church is an independent, non-denominational congregation of approximately 350 people, served by 2 full-time pastors and a Children’s Ministry director. It is located in a rural area situatedapproximately 30 miles northeastof Bend, OR (Central Oregon) and draws from a number of smaller communities surrounding in the Central Oregon area. The church is a part of the Restoration Movement tradition and is conservative in its theology and teaching. PBCC draws from several Middle and High Schools, both traditional and alternative. The two main school districts represented are Crook County (Prineville) and Redmond. Crook County school district has over 1500 Middle and High School students, and Redmond school district has approximately 3000.The Middle Schools are comprised of students from 6th - 8th grade. PBCC also serves the communities of Alfalfa, Bend, and Terrebonne, to name a few.

Powell Butte Christian Church has adopted a simple church model and has adopted the three-fold mission of COME (Connecting), GROW (Discipleship), SERVE (Ministry & Mission). We aim to implement quality “vertical” (God-focused) corporate worship services, provide opportunities for spiritual growth through small group ministries, and encourage every attender to be involved in ministry life, whether within our local church body, in our community, or around the world in short-term and long-term missions. We are committed to Christ’s commission to go and make disciples, loving them into a life-changing relationship with Jesus Christ.

The Youth Pastor is a full-time position and will be responsible for supporting Powell Butte’s mission by passionately leading Student Ministries (grades 6-12), developing the volunteer youth leadership team, and being willing to serve in other areas of skill, giftedness, and passion as we have need.

Youth Ministries is the primary role of this position and will require the candidate to equip, encourage and empower students to experience a life-changing relationship with Jesus and to learn what it means to love God with all their hearts, souls, minds, and strength, and to love their neighbor as themselves. Tasks include leading/overseeing weekly Middle and High School Ministry nights as well as other discipleship opportunities, along with planning and leading mission trips, retreats, outreach events, mentoring, and smaller community groups. Of high importance will be the leading and training of adult volunteer leaders, equipping the saints for works of service in the area of Youth Ministry.

Other areas of ministry shall be encouraged based upon individual skills, giftedness, and passions. A team-oriented spirit and concern for the church body as a whole is critical for this position.

To be considered, the applicant will have a bachelor's degree in Student Ministries and/or a minimum of 5 years of experience in leading student ministry. The applicant will also possess the following qualities:

  • A growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Developing Leadership Abilities
  • Biblical and Relatable Teaching Skills
  • Outstanding Interpersonal Skills – able to relate and communicate to students, parents, adult volunteers, and the church as a whole.
  • Mission-minded – willing to see schools as a mission field.
