Qualification Requirements

/
  • Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership or Administration, preferred.
  • Possession of/eligibility for Michigan School Administrator Certificate, preferred.
  • Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate.
  • Minimum of (3) years exemplary building administrator experience, preferred.
  • Minimum of (5) years exemplary teaching experience, preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

/
  • Adheres to and enforces board policy, school guidelines, administrative directives, the Master Contract, and district standards.
  • Enforces guidelines to maintain proper discipline and conduct.
  • Comply with legal and regulatory requirements of the various governmental agencies.
  • Maintain effective programs to strengthen and monitor student discipline, attendance, and individual progress.
  • Communicate openly and effectively with students, community, staff and administration.
  • Communicates relevant policies and procedures with regard to student discipline, conduct, and attendance to students, staff, and parents.
  • Assists the Building Principal with student expulsions.
  • Works with and assists faculty in the development of effective classroom discipline and organization.
  • Maintains an effective and safe school environment.
  • Assists Building Principal with fire, storm and tornado drills on a regular basis and is able to implement emergency evacuations and lock-downs effectively.
  • Assists in curriculum development to meet the needs of all students.
  • Prepares required reports and paperwork such as discipline reports, suspension reports, expulsion paperwork, discrimination complaints, injury reports, parent communications, and other paperwork as assigned.
  • Work effectively with booster clubs and other community organizations.
  • Works with the Building Principal in the preparation of appropriate handbooks.
  • Assists in the selection and mentoring of staff.
  • Supervises and evaluates certified and paraprofessional as assigned.
  • Supervises support services as assigned.
  • Assists in the development of an instructional budget.
  • Works as a team member to meet the system-wide needs of the district.
  • Assists in supervision of school activities and events.
  • Ability /willingness to work a daily schedule that could demand an extended workday.
  • Assists in the care and management of the building and grounds, furniture, equipment, apparatus, books, and supplies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Understand the needs of and have the ability to relate to secondary school students.
  • Possess effective and innovative ideas for working with students.
  • Develop an atmosphere of trust, respect, interest and enthusiasm within the school.
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with parents and act as a problem solver when concerns arise.
  • Prepare a master budget and supervise equipment inventories.
  • Prepare a master sports calendar that includes conference, non-conference games/events.
  • Coordinate gym, building and athletic field use, for practice and games, with the perspective buildings and maintain the district building use calendar.
  • Seek and recommend suitable competition for all non-conference events/games.
  • Hire all officials, as needed.
  • Confirm official’s contracts and all non-conference contest contracts.
  • Secure game workers for athletic contests, chain crews, announcers, clock operators, score keepers, line judges, etc. and submit the list of contacted workers for that contest to the event supervisor prior to the event.
  • Submit athletic expense request sheets for payment of officials and other workers to district office.
  • Coordinate the collection of rosters for program information as needed.
  • Act as a resource person and coordinator for all coaches.
  • Assist in supervision at home athletic contests and away events, as needed.
  • Assist in the selection of coaches for the athletic program.
  • Evaluate all athletic programs on an annual basis. Make recommendations for improvement to the building principal and district administrator.
  • Complete an evaluation form and hold a conference with all coaches within three weeks after the conclusion of their sport season.
  • Mediate the resolution of problems, issues, and concerns that may arise between coaches and athletic programs.
  • Provide a channel through which students and the community may express their concerns about an athletic program.
  • Provide for in-service of coaching staff as needed.
  • Disseminate MHSAA materials and enforce MHSAA rules and regulations, including player eligibility.
  • Collect, file, and notify athletes and coaches regarding student eligibility as it pertains to the MHSAA physical cards and athletic code of conduct.
  • Collect and maintain on file a properly completed physical card for every student participating in athletics.
  • Distribute athletic training rules yearly to all athletic participants. Collect and maintain on file a signed copy of student letters of intent.
  • Administer the school athletic code in a fair and consistent manner that is within the intent of the code.
  • Ensure district adherence to all MHSAA and district policies, administrative rules, procedures, and codes relating to and participation in athletics.
  • Order Post season awards for each program.
  • Attend monthly athletic conference meetings.
  • Oversee and coordinate all district athletic fundraisers with central office.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor or other administrative staff.

Salary and Benefits

/ $60,000-$65,000 depending on qualifications and experience.
