Position: Assistant Principal – Huron High School

Supervisor: Huron High School, Principal

Qualifications:

·  Valid Michigan Secondary Teaching Certificate preferred.

·  Valid Michigan Administrators Certificate.

·  Submit to criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

·  Master’s Degree in School Administration or related field.

·  Demonstrated evidence of outstanding leadership abilities.

·  Knowledge of social service resources and referrals.

·  Ability to supervise and lead students in grades nine through twelve.

·  Ability to implement a disciplinary program that demands high standards for student behavior, overall safety, respect and productivity.

·  Knowledge of scheduling, including vocational and special education.

·  Knowledge of special education practices, instruction, students and IDEA.

·  Outstanding skills in listening along with written and oral communication.

·  Ability to be an outstanding role model for Huron High School students.

·  Knowledge of No Child Left Behind, Adequate Yearly Progress, Michigan Education Assessment Program and Michigan Merit Exam preferred.

·  Knowledge and understanding of outstanding instructional practices and strategies.

Responsibilities:

·  Assists the principal in the overall administration of the school.

·  Serves as building leader in the absence of the high school principal.

·  Assumes responsibility for the attendance, conduct, and health of students.

·  Acts as liaison between the school and the community, interpreting activities and policies of the school and encouraging community participation in school life and activities.

·  Makes arrangements for special conferences between students, parents and teachers.

·  Supervises the reporting and monitoring of student attendance.

·  Assists in maintaining discipline throughout the student body, and deals with special cases as necessary.

·  Serves with parents, faculty, and student groups as requested in advancing educational and related activities and objectives.

·  Performs such record-keeping functions as the principal may direct.

·  Maintains high standards of student conduct and enforces discipline as necessary, according due process to the rights of students.

·  Cooperates in the conducting of safety inspections and safety drill practice activities.

·  Assumes responsibility for the implementation and observance of all Board policies and regulations by the school’s staff and students.

·  Assists in the development, revisions, and evaluation of the curriculum.

·  Supervises all professional, paraprofessional, administrative, and non-professional personnel attached to the school.

·  Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as the principal may from time to time assign.

·  Provide student supervision for a wide variety of athletic and extra curricular activities and events.

·  Assumes responsibility for the planning and implementation of the Michigan Education Assessment Program and Michigan Merit Exam.

Terms of Employment: In accordance with Administrators' Master Contract.

Salary Range: Per contract between the Huron School District and Huron Administrative Association.
