FUNCTIONAL PURPOSE

Performs a variety of basic clerk duties to support customer day to day operations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Performs one or a combination of the duties listed below:

1.  Performs a variety of administrative duties including, but not limited to: preparing new file folders, transmitting folders and information, answering telephones, preparing requisitions, typing, affixing labels to mail, preparing forms, and operating office equipment.

2.  Utilizes a phone and computer to answer and respond to customer inquiries pertaining to the delivery status or disposition of an article of mail. May provide guidance to customers related to mailing standards and preparation.

3.  Sorts and distributes mail in accordance with established schemes.

4.  Operates automated data processing equipment.

5.  Extracts data from several databases, including change of address, mailers’ database, and address correction.

6.  Prepares reports and maintains records.

7.  Provides routine information to the public concerning postal rates, mailing information, and products.

8.  Operates automated or mechanized mail processing equipment.

9.  Interacts with internal and external customers.

10.  Follows established safe work methods, procedures and safety precautions while performing all duties.

11.  Performs other duties as assigned.

PSE DATA CONVERSION OPERATOR

Level 5

FUNCTIONAL PURPOSE

Operates data conversion equipment in transforming information from source documents to computer input forms.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.  Operates conventional keypunch and electronic data entry equipment from source documents to an input suitable for computer processing.

2.  Performs a mechanical verification of keypunched information.

3.  Selects correct program format and operating mode for each data entry system job application.

4.  Prepares and maintains program control cards for jobs processed on keypunch/key verifier equipment for each specific job.

5.  Maintains format instructions for all keypunching jobs performed in the facility.

6.  Tracks machine utilization information and submits to supervisor for review.

7.  Interacts with internal and external customers.

8.  Follows established safe work methods, procedures and safety precautions while performing all duties.

2.  Performs a variety of administrative duties including, but not limited to: preparing new file folders, transmitting folders and information, answering telephones, preparing requisitions, typing, affixing labels to mail, preparing forms, and operating office equipment.

3.  Sorts and distributes incoming and outgoing mail using the appropriate sort program or manual distribution scheme.

4.  Performs stock control and clerical duties in the filing of requisitions, maintenance of records, taking of inventories, and related property and supply activities.

5.  Examines incoming inventory and verifies the quantity and condition of the items.

6.  Operates automated data processing equipment.

7.  Prepares reports and paperwork as well as maintains records.

Assists with, and performs, a variety of clerical duties to process undeliverable mail as addressed.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.  Operates a computer keyboard to enter and extract data from several databases including change of address, mailers' database, and address correction.

2.  Selects correct program and operating mode for each application.

3.  Affixes labels to mail either manually or with mechanical devices.

4.  Prepares forms for address correction services and/or scanning operation.

5.  Manually distributes processed markups to appropriate separations for further handling.

6.  Returns incomplete documents and records to delivery offices when necessary.

7.  May operate an optical scanner and computer to process postal forms.

8.  May view input from scanned postal forms on computer screen.

9.  May operate a photo copy machine.

2.  Loads, unloads, and moves furniture, supplies and equipment. Stacks supplies in storage rooms and on shelves.

Assists with, and performs, a variety of entry-level technical and semi-skilled tasks in the performance of preventive, corrective and predictive maintenance.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.  Inspects conveyors, cleans, lubricates, adjusts and makes minor repairs of a routine nature to mechanized mail processing and/or building equipment; performs mail searches and clears jams and blockages.

2.  Under the direction of skilled maintenance employees: assists in locating and correcting sources of trouble, minor repairs to electrical systems, motors and case lights, relocation or modification of equipment or systems, and replaces parts of components.

3.  Maintains an awareness of equipment operation especially excessive heat, vibration, and noise; reports obvious equipment malfunctions, hazards or wear to supervisor.

4.  Assembles, disassembles, and repairs equipment or furniture, and assists in painting jobs.

5.  Completes work record sheets, as required. Maintains required records and takes readings from meters, gauges, counters and other monitoring and measuring devices.

6.  Uses necessary hand and power tools, gauging devices, and test equipment as required in the course of assigned duties.
