POST TITLE:Q Zone Student Support (6th form)Grade: MK4

LOCATION:Academy

RESPONSIBLE TO: Assistant Principal- Head of Sixth Form

JOB PURPOSE:To have responsibility for the Q Zone area within the Post 16 Centre and student pathways.

Post 16 Support

  • To manage the Q zone ensuring students use their time purposefully and creative a positive learning environment
  • To establish productive working relationships with students, through academic 1:1 support.
  • Encourage students to interact and work co-operatively with others and engage all students in activities that support learning.
  • Manage the facilities, displaysand resources of the Q zone, working with faculties to ensure appropriate resources are available.
  • To encourage students to read to support their curriculum
  • To encourage and support students’ use of IT, and use of information literacy skills.
  • To give guidance and support for students on research skills and referencing
  • To support the delivering, mentoring and assessment of the EPQ

Pathways

  • To manage all UCAS procedures and systems.
  • To support the 15-10 group
  • To support the lead on whole academy CIEAG, supporting faculties with their CIEAG provision.
  • To provide 1:1 advice, information and support for all year groups on career pathways.
  • To support students who choose to leave the academy in Year 11,12 and 13
  • To lead the academies apprenticeship and business links.

Generic Responsibilities

  • To be aware of the academy’s duty of care in relation to staff, students and visitors and to comply with the health and safety policies at all times
  • To be aware of and comply with the codes of conduct, regulations and policies of the Academy and its commitment to equal opportunities
  • To carry out other reasonable duties or requests that are in keeping with this post or as may be determined from time to time
  • Work effectively as part of the broader Academy team by supporting other colleagues and participating in relevant training and professional development
  • Contribute to the overall ethos and aims of the Academy as set out in the current whole-Academy & Faculty Strategic Vision documentation.
  • Other responsibilities as reasonably requested and commensurate with the grading of the post
