POST TITLE: Policy Officer

GRADE: Operational 1

RESPONSIBLE TO: Head of Policy, Council of Deans of Health

JOB SUMMARY: This post is an exciting opportunity to join the staff team of the Council of Deans of Health, the representative body for the UK’s university faculties engaged in education and research for nursing, midwifery and the allied health professions.
The post-holder will join the Council’s policy team, providing support across our policy areas. The role will include policy work on a wide range of health professional education and research issues, as well as event organisation and membership liaison.
This role is ideal for anyone looking to develop a career in health or higher education policy as our policy officer will gain experience in writing and analysis, event support, data work and public affairs.
The post holder will work closely with the organisation’s senior policy officers and our head of policy.

Main responsibilities

  1. Support the Council’s policy team through policy writing, analysis and data input, working across our five policy portfolio areas: workforce, regulation, research policy, global and education impact.
  1. Monitor the external environment to identify publications, consultations and news of interest to the Council of Deans of Health.
  1. Support the organisation of policy seminars and other Council meetings, liaising with members, external stakeholders, facilities and events staff.
  1. Contribute to the Council’s public affairs work.
  1. Contribute to other areas of the Council’s work as appropriate.
  1. Undertake any other such duties or general tasks and hours of work as may reasonably be required.
