POST TITLE:FACILITY MANAGER (FITNESS FLEX OPERATIONS)

RESPONSIBLE TO: BARNSLEY CONTRACTS MANAGER

EMPLOYEE SUPERVISION:ALL STAFF ACROSS THE AGREED JOB DESIGATIONS THAT FALL UNDER THE POST HOLDER’S RESPONSIBILITIES

DETAILS OF DUTIES ANDRESPONSIBILITIES:

Job Purpose and Main Aims

1.People - You will lead and manage all job designations in ensuing all customers receive a quality service at all times at your appointed facility.

2.Finance - You will work towards continuously improving financial performance, including in areas measured by key performance indicators.

3.Customers - You will have accountability for Metrodome Fitness Flex operations in the delivery of a quality customer service.

4.Health & Safety - To oversee the effective management of all quality assurance and safety activity within designated facility.

5.Systems - Responsible for developing and complying with agreed systems of work within Barnsley Premier Leisure.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

In Relation to Main Aim 1

1.To ensure the company’s HR Policies are followed and fully implemented at the facility. In summary although not exhaustive recruitment and selection, grievance and disciplinary, inductions, training and development, personal reviews, staff supervision and delegation of work tasks and duties.

2.Accountable for co-ordinating the effective operation of employee working rotas, authorising timesheets and maintaining records concerning employees; ensuring that the employment policies and adhered to in liaison with the Human Resources Department.

3.Take responsibility for identifying and pursuing training opportunities to improve knowledge base for developing management functions.

4.Actively work in partnership with other Facility Managers located at the Metrodome Leisure Complex to ensure all operations work cohesively.

In Relation to Main Aim 2

1.Management of agreed income budgets in line with areas of responsibility.Maximising commercial opportunities of the Fitness Flex Brand.

2.Effective control of all expenditure budget heads always seeking new ways to contribute and reduce overheads.

3.Effective control of payroll budgets, this will include working towards achieving the company’s KPI of payroll percentage against the facilities turnover.

4.Ensure all staff actively embraces a financial ethos when it comes to housekeeping and that care is always taken of the facility’s fixtures/furnishings and equipment.

5.Effective day to day control of energy management along with systems of work and staff education on how energy consumption is effectively managed throughout the facility.

6.Ensure the company’s financial procedures (which may be site specific) are followed and fully implemented in the required business areas.

In Relation to Main Aim 3

1.Accountable for assisting BPL in developing its customer service ethos and continuously improving the staff culture in how customer service is developed, viewed and provided.

2.Accountable for ensuring the company’s corporate customer feedback system is managed effectively each month.

3.Assist with the development of services including secondary spend opportunities that serve the needs of the customer and improving income streams for the company.

4.In conjunction with the Marketing Department and line manager to develop and ensure the delivery of the marketing and promotional strategies for the facility.

5.Within the facility ensure all publicity, leaflets, posters and prices are up to date and presented to the customer in the agreed timescales and standards.

In Relation to Main Aim 4

1.Accountable for the maintenance of safe working practices and safety checks and emergency procedures in accordance with the health and safety at Work Act, BPL’s Safety Policy and codes of practices including completion of associated documentation.

2.Accountable for ensuring the company’s health and safety year planners and managed along with all tasks completed in conjunction with the technical unit, external service providers and our own in house operational staff.

3.Accountable for the daily maintenance of all plant and equipment particularly that controlling the pool environment, where applicable, and for taking appropriate action in the event of emergencies and breakdown.

4.To ensure public order in the facility taking action to minimise vandalism and hooliganism and for the general security of the facility including responding to emergency call outs as a nominated key holder.

5.Produce and maintain standard operating procedures and ensure every service and facility is reviewed on an ongoing basis.

In Relation to Main Aim 5

1.Accountable for ensuring a cohesive system of duty management control is evident throughout the facility to ensure a high standard of customer service is consistently maintained.

2.Accountable for ensuring a consistent handover and that corrective communication takes place across shifts so that all job designations are kept abreast of operations information affecting them.

3.Contribute proactively to ensure that BPL maintains IIP status along with working towards and achieving other industry Bench Marking Standards of qualities such as QUEST.

4.Accountable for ensuring all company policies and procedures are adhered to along with positively contributing to their ongoing improvement and review.

5.Ensure every members of your team is aware of their role, why it is important and where it fits into the organisation.

6.Maintain systems of communication to ensure that all staff and other departments/sections are kept up to date with activities, events and policies.

The grade of this post is all inclusive and your working hours must be in line with the ever changing needs of the business. And any other duties commensurate with the grade and falling within the scope of the post, as requested by Management.

POSITION:FitnessFlex Facility Manager – Metrodome Leisure Complex

Information to Candidates on Employment Terms and Conditions

The following details outlining some of the main Terms and Conditions of Employment are for information only. They do not constitute a contractual agreement. A full Contract of Employment will be issued to the successful applicant on appointment.

1.Working Hours

The normal hours of work will be40 hours per week, to be worked to suit the needs of the service which may include evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays

2.HolidaysThere are 20 days annual leave from 1 April to 31 March each year plus 8 Bank Holidays (pro rata for part-time staff). Staff appointed part way through a holiday year will receive a proportionate entitlement.

3.Salary

The rate of pay will be up to £29,081 per annum.

4.Pension

There is eligibility to join the BPL Friends Life Pension Scheme.

  1. Probationary Period

All new appointments are subject to a probationary period of 6 months during which time suitability for the position appointed will be assessed.

6.Notice Period

The notice period that will operate on both sides to terminate the Contract will be one month or, on the employer side, one week for every year of service (to a maximum of 12 weeks) if this is greater.

7.Appointment

Appointments made are subject to satisfactory to the employer of a health clearance, two references and a CRB check.
