Responsible to:Head of Fundraising (East)

Responsible for:Coordinate all aspects of the planning and deliveryof a range of fundraising events in the East region.

Salary:Point 24 – 28 CHSW salary scale

Hours of Work:37hours per week (which will include unsocial hours)

Location:Charlton Farm, Charlton Drive, Wraxall, North Somerset

Overall Purpose of the Role

1.1To project manage the large CHSW fundraising events within the East region and work with the community and corporate fundraisers to maximise event income.

1.2To identify opportunities and delivera portfolio of other events throughout the East region to meet agreed targets.

1.1To work collaboratively with the rest of the Fundraising Team (East) as well as working closely in a collaborative environment with the rest of thefundraising department to assist in maximising overall charity income.

Main Tasks

2.1Develop and delivera calendar of events for the East region.

2.2To project manage the logistical planning and delivery of the large CHSW fundraising events within the East region and assist the community and corporate fundraisers to maximise total event income.

2.3To be responsible for the delivery of a portfolio of sustainable events throughout the East region which raise no less than £10,000 each.

2.4To create project plans, budgets and logistical plans for each event to include comprehensive risk assessments and event production schedules.

2.5Deliver monthly reporting to monitor performance of income streams and expenditure budgets and implement remedial actions when required.

2.7Work with the marketing and communication team to develop and implement marketing plans to promote the events including press releases,preparing marketing briefs, approving material proofs and implementing mailing strategies.

2.8To develop and maintain relationships with participants in events including offering advice, support and encouragement as well as the delivery of effective stewardship.

2.9To lead on the post-event evaluations to measure success and ensure continual improvement.

2.10Use the Raiser’s Edge database to gather donor information; use that data to cross market events to specific audiences and lead the decision making of which events CHSW should deliver.

2.4Maintain up-to-date knowledge leading and innovative fundraising techniques and best practice.

2.10To ensure that all financial & non financial targets are achieved.

2.11To ensure the effectiveness of administrative systems and procedures, including the maintenance of records, the receipt and expenditure of funds and the development of the CHSW database system. Ensure the information on the Raiser’s Edge database is developed and maintained to support the fundraising team’s activities and effective donor relations and donor development.

2.12To adhere to the charity’s financial systems.

Other Tasks

3.1To represent CHSW in a variety of different contexts and to a variety of different audiences.

3.2To maintain a current knowledge of changes in legislation affecting charities and carry out fundraising activities in line with the Institute of Fundraising Codes of Practice and CHSW’s ethical policy.

3.3To ensure that a positive image of CHSW is projected at all times.

3.4To contribute to other activities undertaken by CHSW under the direction of the Head of Fundraising (East).

3.5To contribute to organisational effectiveness through positive team-working.

3.6To adhere to CHSW Health and Safety Procedures.

3.7Your normal hours of work are from 09:00am to 5:00pm Monday to Thursday and 09:00am to 4:30pm Friday with ½ an hour for lunch. You are required to work additional hours as necessary which will include unsocial hours outside the above times, which may from time to time include week end work.

3.8You will be expected to flex your time during a working week to keep toil to a minimum. Effective planning of time is particularly important in the lead up to and after an event.

Essential qualifications:

E1Educated to A Level or HND standard

Essential Skills/Abilities:

E2Ability to motivate and inspire a variety of individuals including senior decision makers

E3The highest standard of written communication skills and excellent verbal, including presentations

E4The ability to monitor and control financial budgets and evaluate potential income

E5Excellent organisational, project management and planning skills with a meticulous eye for detail

Essential Experience:

E6Proven experience of events fundraising or events/project management

E7Demonstrable experience of achieving challenging targets

E8Proven track record of generating income

Desirable Experience:

D1Networking and building successful relationships

Essential Knowledge:

E9Broad understanding of other fundraising mechanisms, such as community fundraising

E10Knowledge of the charity sectors

E11Microsoft Office Suite

E12Sound understanding of the application of charity legislation to fundraising activity

Desirable Knowledge:

D2Familiar with the Bristol, Bath and Somerset area

Other Essential Requirements:

E23Willingness to travel to other Children’s Hospice South West premises and throughout the South West Region, with occasional travel throughout the UK (this may incur overnight stays)
